They might be PQ, but if the Brits elected to stop paying the maintanance for them, I am pretty sure the American people would vote to keep paying it instead.

I understand the connection to the countries history the Royal Family provides. It would be very hard to kick that to the curb. And in the end it really doesn't cost them that much...............unless the alternative is to lease out Buckingham Palace to some rich Saudi Prince, LOL

I think a lot of American women would like to be a princess and there is a bit of romantacism in that proposition.

In all fairness the Royal family donates a tonne of money and time to various chartible causes. I agree the idea of a Royal family is a bit of an anachronism these days, but the British royal family is a force for good.

It's none of my business though. I'm American. I gave my opinion because the crap was being repeated and reapted and even here in my own state it was actually got as much run time as our tornados. Little surprised at the facination of so many about these people.

I can see if maybe Charlie Sheen considered me a 'commoner' , but it just turns my stomache to hear people actually make that reference. I'm sure they are fine people but I don't get the allure.

I'm American too, but I've lived in Canada for the last 25 years. I'm not what you'd call a monarchist, but I can understand interest in the Royal family more than I can all the celebrity worship that is so prevalent in North America.

This is a family that stayed in London during the Lutwaffe's blitz and helped rally their country.
Show me one celebrity that would have the stones to do that.
