The development work we have been conducting with the LPE Camaro and our partner Pedders has resulted in in a best 60 ft of 1.304 in our IRS 4200 lb car. This car is a manual 6 speed and the adjustability in both re-bound and compression independantly, plus Pedders willingness to develop the dampenining characteristics neccessary to control the shock to the overall system, ie weight transfer and the re-bound of the rear shock to keep the rear end planted aided us in our quest for an 8 second car. The travel of both front and rear shocks was measured with linear displacement transducers and that data fed back to Pedders who developed the shock package for us. There are significant differences between the Street / Road racing requirements to our drag racing set up. I agree that there are not many Gen 5 Camaros out there that have the performance of our car, but the fundamental principles of the suspension control strategy we and our partners Pedders have developed hold good for a 5 th gen Camaro owner, of a power level up to and including ours, that wants to optimize the drag race performance of their car.

Graham.
Graham,

The new facility is great. Thanks for asking.

How much power are you making? We are around 630rwhp but are in the process of adding another 50 or so with a forged bottom end, larger cube motor in preparation for more boost. Hoping to dip into the 1.4's before upping the boost...

The LPE car was struggling to put down the power they make. That is where the LPE / Pedders relationship started. The LPE 'Black Pig' had the 'best-of-the-best' after market suspension components installed and could not a get a clean launch. It would load and unload multiple times in first and second gear. The suspension could not control the power. LPE bolted on a box stock Pedders Supercar coilover kit and instantly found 2/10s in the 60'. That is where we started the development of the LPE Drag Package about 9 months ago. Based on LPE data we revised the damping rates, coil lengths, coil rates and so on. The Drag Package LPE now launches cleanly and can put down the power that it makes. Put a different way, LPE was running what they thought was the best available aftermarket drag suspension. They bolted on Pedders and out of the Pedders box found 2/10s in the 60'. What does this mean to the 5th Gen Drag Weekend Drag Strip Warrior?

1. You can have a it all. You can have great drag launches and corner too by bolting in a Pedders Supercar Coilover kit. Adjust the dampening for the street or strip. Click. Tune. Play!

2. Using a combination of Pedders and LPE parts for your IRS you can take your 5th Gen from fast street car to full race car.

For the weekend drag warrior the initial package is straight forward. Install sub-frame inserts, radius bush inserts and replace all four toe link bushes. The sub-frame and toe link bushes are by far and away the most critical to IRS stability. Based on testing, GM has already made an incremental improvement to the OE sub-frame bush. I expect you will see similar improvements made to the OE toe link bushes. Even when those are available, they will not match the stability of Pedders urethane.

With those three critical bush areas addressed we move to alignment. Wagon wheel straight works really well at the strip. Zero our your front toe and run minimal negative front camber. In the rear zero out the toe for a zero thrust angle with minimal or positive rear camber to bring the contact patch square to the track surface. With a couple of bushes and a good strip alignment you strip prepared at minimal expense. Moving one step up, add a monster solid rear sway bar. Pedders 32mm rear bar is the strongest available. The 32mm bar will help distribute load evenly between both wheels on your IRS 5th Gen.
Disconnect and secure one front endlink Be sure to reconnect it before driving home. Taking your game to another level, install Pedders Supercar Coilovers. Click. Tune and RACE!

Jump in with the biggest dog and go LPE Drag.
  • LPE Toe Links
  • LPE Trailing Arms
  • LPE Differential
  • LPE Supercar Drag Coilovers
  • Pedders 32mm Rear Bar
  • Pedders EP1201 Delrin for the Street Sub-frame Bushes
  • Pedders EP6579 Radius Bush Inserts
  • Remove your front sway bar.
Click. Tune. WIN!

When it comes to drag racing we wanted the best possible partner with the highest level of expertise. We choose LPE and the results have put smiles on faces at both our companies.

Lingenfleter will make you the power to get there, Pedders will help get that power to the ground where it counts!

I just now got a set of full slicks, so I can start dialing mine in. As you Buddy superchargedsss said the DR's are good to about 550 RWHP. To go really fast in the 1/4 needs to be an all out approach, tires, power, weight, and suspension. It all comes into play!
LPE's Black Beast is a perfect example of how to make a really heavy car quick.
