Sounds like the Dealership is is trying to screw you. My understanding is they make more money off repairs not under warranty. Let the regional manager be your representative, it is clear the dealer is not. GOOD LUCK!!

Dealers make a ton more money off of non-warranty repairs. they get the money you pay for parts and their technicians also get payed more that way. when a dealership does warranty work, not only are they not making any profit from the parts, their technicians also dont get payed their full amount. Instead of getting their normal per hour service fee for non warranty work which you would pay for, they get about 4/10 of that hourly fee which is payed by GM. this is the reason dealers like to try to make you pay out of pocket and it is also the reason that warranty work is generally half assed.

I went to my JN Chevrolet today and asked them to provided me with the document they wanted me to sign and documentation of the conversations they've had with GM. I needed these documents so I can have a lawyer look over them so I am not screwed over. They copied the paper they wanted me to sign then they told me that they don't document conversations with GM, "They're all verbal." So you don't record what you talked about after the conversation, no notes are taken. "No, it's all verbal"

FIX MY DAMN CAR AND QUIT TRYING TO SCAM ME.

So, have they even been able to look at it yet? I know they're saying the oil is black(duh, what color is it supposed to be) and that it wasn't to spec but if it had any life left on the oil monitor I don't see it being a problem. Is there something in the warranty where it says we must bring it to them for oil changes? No. Is there something that says they have this nifty oil change monitor and don't go by it? I don't think so. When was the last time you had checked the oil level? It may be something that's asked. I'd be there at the service rep's desk every day. Have you taken Jeff up on his offer to talk about your issue?
Oh, and good luck.

They do make more money off of repairs outside of warranty.
They just assumed you would take their word as the final say. Glad you contacted GM. GM wants people to buy, and own, and enjoy, and buy again.
The dealership wants your money as repairs and parts is where they get most of theirs.
Good luck with this. I knew I was watching the oil changes for a reason.
I heard stories of guys taking customers synthetic home and filling with regular. Hence, I watched them do the changes. Why must everything be so damned crooked?

This isn't a wide spread problem. All manufactures are going to have a few cars have problems. You should be ok. I change the oil at 50% just to be on the safe side.

My car is being fixed as we speak, under warranty. It had a broken crankshaft and rod. I want to thank Mr. Morris for helping me out through this whole ordeal.
