I agree. This would mean an hour drive for me (both ways). I am good with a long cruise. When I can put on over a 800 miles in 36 hours for the Hot Rod Power Tour, I certainly can do a 2 hour round trip cruise too.

and enter your location , we'd be able to get a much better geographical map of where everyone is located which might help when choosing a location.
Our group is spread out so much that no matter what side of town we choose, it'll be a long drive for someone.
Added this feature to the new site that is going in place this weekend. If you are already signed up on the demo domain and have a chance to help me test that would be great!

= on the bottom right there is a button to post a map
= from there it should be just add your location; say its your hometown and you should be good to go

Let's get clear on the location. In no way shape or form will we use another dealership for a meeting other than Rodger's. The location for the meeting will Belle Isle. Not to be blunt about the whole dealership thing, because members can go and use whoever they please, but it's just an etiquitte thing for me personally. A lot of who we are as a club would not be possible w/out the sponsorship we have to date. Rodger's Chevrolet has been a vital support base for our club from day 1 and I will not as the founder of D5GCC damage our relationship that we have established. So I hope everyone can make this important meeting and enjoy an outside venue.

I agree and personally while I do appreciate the effort Sandor and Scott for generously offering up his location +pizza and pop :P it was very nice of you guys to try and find a solution to help out with a more central location. I think folks like me will just suck it up this meeting and make it down to Belle isle

I would like to again thank Sandor and Scott for the offer and effort though.

We'll, I'm going to go on record this time and slightly disagree with Dermo.
Yes we owe Becky and everyone else at Rodger's BIG TIME, but...... I don't think that it should prevent us from enjoying the hospitality of Les Standford or any other dealership. We are and will always be sponsered by, and in debt to Becky and her team no matter where we happen to be.

That being said, Les Standford may have pop, but they don't have a Grand Prix track.

I think it would be nice to have an outdoor meet, enjoy the view of that other country across the river, enjoy the sunshine, pehaps fire up the ole' barbie, and lay down a few laps.

Belle Isle, Tally Ho!

Wouldn't it be fun to have one of our meetings in Dearborn at The Henry Ford?
Right in the middle of Ford town?

Sorry guys, no offense intended to the club or to Becky.

I don't see this as a dealer vs. dealer thing. The thread was talking about the need to hold the meetings on different sides of town for the benefit of all. Scott from Stanford was kind enough to offer up their location on that side of town and to provide dinner and door prizes to support our club for the meeting. That takes nothing away from the amazing support from Becky and Rogers Chevrolet and their strong support for the club, it is awesome and greatly appreciated! It is not a "replacement". It was simply another Chevy dealer reaching out with an offer to help as well, not trying to "take over" from Rogers. We may want to think about that opportunity for "plus assistance" in the future, which only seems to provide further support for our club and its members.

Again, sorry if this ruffled any feathers, was only an offer to help.

No worries man I am sure we can all agree you were trying to help and no hard feelings.

Belle isle here we come! I am going to see if my wife can get off of work early so I can make it on time if we are still shooting for 7:00, if not I will be there soon as I can might not be till closer to 8:00 though.

My thoughts....

I don't believe anybody is pissed or anything, and it's not a dealer vs dealer issue either. To me it's just a matter of not biting the hand that feeds you and being respectful of all the other aspects here as well. I think it's a huge thing that Scott offered up, but in my eyes, realistically the distance between Dearborn & Detroit is not going to make or break somebody's decision to come or not. Now if a Dealer from say Sterling Heights was to offer up their business for us, and it was the East sider's turn to host, then that is a little different. (To me). I just think that Becky may have been a little taken back that after offering her conference room 1st, and after all she has done, and being as involved as she is, that another "local" dealership's kind gesture was put into play. I know for a fact that she has a great relationship w/those guys over there so it's not a contest, & I just want us as members to be respectful to everybody involved. I have always said that we have an amazing group of people in our club & I still stand behind that sentiment. So no big yank, and we can meet up do our business, go for a cruise anywhere after, and all go have dinner & a beer somewhere and get ready for SUPERFEST baby!! Nothin' but love for all my brother's & sister's.

Hmm...not sure if I'll make Belle Isle at that time. Just let me know what the dues are and who I pay up to.
