Have you put oil on your filter (ie. cleaned it)? You may have over saturated it. I did the first few times I applied the oil to my filters.
When you clean the filter let it dry completely. spray it once and wait. Let the oil spread across the filter for a few seconds. After it stops spreading, make an adjustment on where to spray based on how much it spread out from the first spray. You don't need to drown the filter in oil. Too much oil is a bad thing. You will be able to see just how little oil is actually needed on a properly oiled filter. Once that is done, I'd still get it tuned. The factory tune is crap! CMS did a great job bringing my car back to life after my CAI tube broke at the MAF bung.

Referring to the op I had installed a new CAI Ind. cai and after a few days I had a bad surge at idle in drive and especially in reverse. So I swapped back to my old cai and the surge was still there so I swapped back on the new CAI. After reading this thread I went and got a can of Maf cleaner from auto zone, took the Maf out and sprayed it down reinstalled it and from my initial first startup the surge problem seems to have been cleared up. Thanks to the op boomboom and brianco.

So do you just spray the cleaner into the wedge shaped hole on the side of the MAF? I don't remember seeing any exposed wires/sensors

Yes you can see the wires in there, spray it down real good, but in my post I said my problem may have been solved but after another test drive it is not I still have surging at idle. I will have to get my tune tweaked , I guess after adding a vmax ported tb and CAI Ind. Cai it needs tuning again. Ryan@cms I'm guessing is correct about the larger diameter tube near the maf sensor causing a different airflow. I do have a Maggie, cammed automatic so I don't know if a Naturally aspirated ls3 would have the same problems as me.

It was my fault, prior to a car show I sprayed my filter with K&N oil, I wanted the deep red color, hence long story short.
