Last August with car parked at work someone backed into the rear of my car. They were doing some construction work at one of our buildings and all kinds of big trucks with construction trailers in the lot. I come out at the end of the day and find that there is a 12"inch rub mark top to bottom in the middle of my bumper on the driver side, the bumper is creased and the backup light is flopping inward in the bumper, the rear diffuser is cracked plus there is a scratch mark down to the primer on the spoiler and trunk lid about two inches wide. No note nothing.

I had to pay my 500.00 deductible and the cost of the damage to Allstate was almost $3000.00 to have all repaired.

I don't have the pictures but it really pissed me off.I found a certain color of paint on the bumper (copper)and spent two days lurking in the lot until I found a truck that color that had scrape marks on it's bumper, contacted the owner of the construction company who said he asked the guy driving if he hit me and said "no" so end of story-BS!

I got the repair estimate today, $3200. My deductible will be $200 for uninsured motorist coverage.

Woot woot! I found the other driver this morning. His insurance will now take over the repair costs.

At work I came out to my SUV and a note was on the windshield that said "I may have scratched your car pulling in."

My bumper was on the ground and split almost in half, shattered tail light, broken reverse sensors, scratched and left a bunch of his paint on my tailgate. Once he hit my trailer hitch my vehicle won. There were parts of his front end everywhere. Apparently he tried pulling into a parking spot at 20mph. I reported it as a hit and run.

Sorry to see your damage. I don't have any tales yet myself (thankfully), but I do have a suggestion, most everyone has some sort of phone with a camera on it so whenever I park my car I snap a photo of the cars parked next to me with their plates, just in case. So far all I have had to do is delete these pictures, but someday one of these photos may prove to be invaluable. Only takes a second to do too.

Good observation skills, a specific skill set, and a sprinkle of good fortune. I noted the car make/model/color when I parked. I saw a similar car driving erratically whilst I was driving home and noted his plate. I did some research and then I saw the same make/model/color car today, in our HQ parking lot, checked the plate, and the numbers matched. There was fresh damage to the front right fender, with a yellow paint transfer. Located the owner; eventually he admitted it was probably him. Done deal.

Someone suggested that earlier in the thread; I agree and will definitely do that from now on.

For work in MA, I charge extra. And a meal in the oldest continuously operating restaurant is part of the fee. Oysters on the half, and Sam Adams.

I am so sorry to see your beautiful Bee in that shape. That just drives me INSANE. I'm sorry, but things like that are simply not excusable. It's like molesting a child or beating/mugging an elderly person, it's just something people should be taken out back and shot over... how do you NOT know you just hit a car?

While my story fortunately (knock on wood thus far) is not about my Camaro, it's still an ugly one...

This was my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Competition Group after it was the victim of a hit and run at an Aldi's store in Indianapolis.

Cracked the rear rim, $1900 in just paint alone, and the worst part was the cop had the audacity to ask me if it was possible I missed it coming from my previous location. I was like, considering I put my daughter in the car on that side and it was parked in a driveway all day, I'd be pretty damn blind to not notice it.

The car was parked literally 20 feet from the entrance and was visible to everyone at the cashier/register area, as the store is all glass up front. Amazingly no one saw anything...
