That's interesting. I have owned cheap and higher end cars in the past and still haven't had the orange peel issue on any of them. I haven't even seen it on my friends and families cars, regardless of being a camaro or not. The car is only two months old and I take care of it properly, and it's prestine. If orange peel was expected, I definitely wouldn't think it would appear so quickly after taking ownership. My old 02' white mustang had thinner paint than this and it still didn't have orange peel. It's just not a fun thing to deal with. I shouldn't have to fork out thousands of dollars to get the thing repainted. Unfortunately, that's how it will probably pan out.

I put the splash guards on a few days ago. I went the take off the wheels route. I had no idea those 20" rims and tires were that heavy. I thought I'd have a stroke putting them back on in the middle of all this heat.

Some of us keep saying the OEM Splash Guards are the answer...anybody hearing us? Almost 22 thousand miles and I live down 3 miles of gravel road. Chipping has not been a problem. I keep it under 30mph on the gravel road but I haven't had any...ANY...gill chipping.

As a clear br ainstaller I go through about 15-18 different car forums a day. I can tell you that in EVERY single one I hear the same complaints. I will admit it is a little worse with Camaros... which is probably why they are the second most worked on car I have... but its not just Camaros. Sure everyone is saying "my old car never had chips", or "my friends car doesnt have orange peel"... seriously they almost all have ornage peel and they are all chipping. I think one of the biggest problems for the Camaro is the design of the car. Flat surfaces facing the road, gilld flare out in front of the front tires taking rocks directly from them, and yes the paint is thin. But almost all paints these days are water based paints (thanks to the EPA) so paint is weaker across the board.

I hate to say it but GM will not fix this. But dont feel bad... go into the Corvette forum, GTR forum, Lexus forum, Porsche forum and everyone is complaining about paint quality. As long as we have people running our country putting the environment first we will continue to see weak paint on cars. Sure adding paint protection film or guards can help some, but that cost money. You bought a car from a company who went bankrupt and would be under had it not been for the American taxpayer.

I thing you're talking about something other than orange peel. Orange peel doesn't just appear at some point after ownership. It's there from the day it was painted.

Hmmm, I think our understanding of orange peel is different. Are you talking about something else? Like the clearcoat wearing out faster than it should so that it shows the base coat? Because orange peel happen on all cars...even show cars. That is why they wetsand the clear coat to smooth it all out.

Orange peel is the texture in the paint when you look at the reflection in the light. It is there from day one so it doesnt just show up.

I noticed a paint chip on the inside of my door a few days ago...I have no idea. I guess I'll have to get a clear bra installed on the inside of my doors.

Hmm.., that's interesting. I'm not sure how to describe it then. It wasn't there when I bought the car new. The bumpers were a perfect Summit White in color. Now at the seems at the center of the front and rear bumper, side mirrors, and top edges of the door handles are starting to turn a yellowish/orange tint. It is also starting starting the show this discoloration around the edges of the bumpers as well. I'm not sure what causes this phenomenon. The paint may be so thin that the color of the bumper (which seems to be yellow) or primer is showing through. :(

Here's a dumb question, but where do you get
EOM splash guards? Do you have to have your dealer order them?
