Sorry Huffer it's just frustrating when you put 60 hour work weeks in on something & you are called fishy. :( :( If the most technologically advanced LS shop in the country is fishy then I'd hate to see what he calls the typical LS shops...

How about this bring your boost car down & if it doesn't make the 60rwhp before & after I'll remove it & charge you absolutely nothing.

Somebody explain what I'm doing that's fishy?!?!

94guy,

Here's where I'm coming from. It costs something like $275ish dollars for a LS9 cam that adds 30rwhp. Or you could buy a TSP grind that adds 60rwhp for $110 additional?? I don't get the purpose of your post? What are you trying to argue? Extra duration makes power? I believe if you do the math it's $9.16 per hp for a LS9 camshaft & $6.49 per hp for the TSP camshaft. People pay way way more money per hp than $6.49 everyday so I don't really get where your going with this??

Please post what your actually saying & your point with that post, I just don't really follow your point!?!?
LS9 cam is $115 to the door. $3.80ish cents per hp. all i'm saying is your #'s are expected 60rwhp from that size cam that's it.

Do you recommend aftermarket springs at the same time or is the lift not severe enough to require it? I know some people have been keeping the stock ones when they went with the LS9 and thats part of the reason why they went with it.

I'm assuming they'd be needed but would like to check. I figure hardened pushrods and the trunion upgrade would happen at the same time so its not a ton more work to do the springs if you're already there.

I started such controversy with a few simple questions. Just trying to get info.

If your not wanting to run aftermarket springs and don't mind paying all the labor the for 25-30hp then the LS9 cam is a option if it's priced at $120. I guess it just depends on your goals. I will engine dyno test a LS9 cam one day to see what it actually picks up side by side & let you guys know.

I don't mind doing the extra effort, was just wondering if you suggest springs with this cam or if the stock ones are adequate with the lift numbers on it. I'll be doing all the work myself so labor costs aren't an issue. It'll just add another day to the car being in pieces in the garage.

My ultimate goal is a whipple, headers, intake and a reasonable cam with the stock pulley to make nice power at a relatively safe boost. I plan on doing the safety/peace of mind things like upgraded timing chain, trunions, etc while its all apart.

Whew....Fishy? I can see that cam being worth way north of 60 rwhp vs a stock cam under a blower. 227 on the intake is pretty healthy. Worth the time, effort, and/or money to do the swap. Unlike the LS9 cam which probably isn't Kind of silly, in my book, to go to all of the trouble of a cam swap just to slide in an LS9 cam.

If not wanting to change the valve springs is the reason for using the LS9 cam, understand that there are plenty of better choices (custom grinds) that don't mandate a spring change.

first what type of fuel did you guys use, at what boost pressure, air fuel ratio, discharge temps, ambient temps, any KR. you did not mention if you had a dual fuel pump? first you made 643 hp and then just with the cam you installed you made 700hp sounds good. now I'm not questioning this, but really, I'm interested in knowing more about this set up. I don't want to get this cam say dam I need a shit load more of mods to make my car run safe. we all know the risk of running a stock motor under boost and making way more power than is recommended, but if you can get away with making 700rwhp and keeping your motor alive, you just have to let me know how,
