Rules of thumb I observed in my experiences along time ago, just in rough, rounded, general terms mind you, are 100 pounds = .10 seconds, and 100 HP = 1 second up and down the scale. These are for quarter mile purposes though. Track times I have never paid much mind to. I guess the 'Vettes are slicker than we assume them to be.

Z06 will smoke the ZL1. I think the people here making that statement have no sense of how fast the Z06 really is.

What year is the Z06? The early C6 Z06's always had a slower time than the new ones in the auto mags.

It's probably an old ZO6 time. As stated before, until recently ZO6's were known to be animal to be fighting with at the limit, thereby causing precious time lost in a lap.

Also keep in mind, better handling causes confidence which then leads to greater speed. The GS is no slouch with it's 436 HP and its very nimble handling. I'm actually not surprised.

Coming back to the this post, the ZL1 is great, but the ZO6 will dispatch it. The only thing keeping a stock ZO6 from going any faster is its stock tires. I'm predicting a bold 0-60 MPH time for ZL1 at 3.8 seconds. that's crazy fast but it won't touch the 3.7 seconds time posted by the ZO6. And that time is with the ZO6 spinning its tires in first gear due to the lack of traction. For the quater mile it will be ZO6: 11.8 sec @ 123.4 mph vs ZL1's 12.0 at 121.7 mph. This is me being optimistic. By the way all of these times are my ESTIMATES. I'm only guessing how fast the ZL1 will be.

Also, keep all the performance of your car on the track. That's where it belongs. I don't want ANYONE to cause an unfortunate accident caused by a mistake. Just wanted to point that out...

I like people who are optimistic about the ZL1 though

No way on gods green earth will a stock ZL1 take out a stock ZO6!!!....Def not from a roll on the street...Its real simple, power to weight ratio. As stated earlier stock ZO6's can hit nearly 130mph in the 1/4 with a damn good driver...I predict the ZL1 will run very low 12's-High 11's with a trap somewhere around 118-122(depending on weather and driver) in stock form with decent drivers...Not enough for a ZO6, only chance it would have would be in the 1/4 and the ZL1 having a far superior driver...

my guess- The ZL1 will beat a base corvette, but be behind the zo6. yes the zo6 has less hp, but all that extra weight on the camaro is gonna slow it down too much. but seeing as all of these cars are wicked-freaking-fast, im not too worried. especially seeing as about 90% of the vettes around( at least where i live) are the base models. so you dont have MUCH to worry about if youre buying a zl1.

You are obviously REALLY excited about the ZL1. A ZL1 isn't coming CLOSE to a Z06 on the street or track.

A ZL1 won't even beat ME in my SS. And having driven a Z06, and an LS2 Vette, and my car, I'm telling you right now. You better not bet too many people at once. Rely on that suspension if you want to but the Z06 is superior in EVERY way.

You are gonna be sorely disapointed.

I know you've never driven a Z06 becasue you wouldn't be saying this if you had. Go test drive one. See what happens.

Actually, you better not. You'd be even MORE disapointed in the ZL1.

Those C/D times prove it right there. The CTS-V is 5 seconds faster than the SS. It has 130 more horsepower. The weight is identical witht the caddy only being slightly heavier. The ZL1 may beat the CTS-V by no more than a couple seconds. I don't know why I'm even posting in this thread. I get so tired of thes speculation threads...
