So say I own Avis...I cant pre-order Camaros like the rest of you ?....and if I buy over a hundred units I just might be able to make a deal to get them in the first batch....

...I see no reason to bitch about this we will all get our car when our number comes up.

The number of people who would cancel their orders over this is probably small enough it won't matter to GM.

Does it make me angry? HELL YES. But I'll still be jazzed when I get my car.

Feb 1st, and you are pissed? A huge majority of us ordered over 5 months ago!!!

It does none of us any good to be pissed off at GM for this. If this were 2 or 3 years ago I would go ahead and say "be pissed". But GM is in serious trouble, and while the Camaro won't single handedly save GM, getting these cars seen by the average person (not enthusiast), IMO is a smart move.

Seriously. Avis is doing a bulk purchase folks. What's to say their bulk order wasn't placed as the first order in the pre-ordering system back in October, hence trumping everyone of you that pre-ordered. Don't you think they'd be a bit ticked off at GM for building all your one-off Camaros before GM built theirs?

I understand the frustration for everyone that has ordered but you really have to step back and view this from a cash infusion position for GM. They deliver 1 order to Avis (with 100+ cars) and get cut a single check shortly after production starts. Now take into consideration how long it would take for GM to complete that process on 100 individual dealer sales - which one is going to look better on the books, especially with the Fed looking at your every move. Love it or hate it, GM is in a position where the faster it can get its hands on cash, the better.

I dont think that a car being available as a rental will cause any resale value of "normal cars" to go down. Yes they will ditch them after a year but would you really want one of them. Shopping for a car at a rental lot is like looking for a wife at a brothel. Anything with that many drivers doesnt go in my garage.
