I would rather see a T-top option personally.

I think the soft top is here to stay, as long as the conv is made.

I would love to see a vert hardtop, but I'm not quite ready to trade mine in any time soon

.
I'm getting the ZL1, and if the 'vert was going to be a hard top, I would have gone for that.

I just don't like the looks of the soft top when closed.

I think that the concern about trunk space is a non-starter. I love the vert. However, it really does not have any appreciable trunk space with the soft top down. Also if you are tall, no one really can fit in the back seats. So why not go all the way and make the car a hardtop convertible. If that means no more trunk space okay.

Everyone,

Last week I went to the Los Angeles Autoshow and got to see the ZL1 first hand! Very Cool! However, I also got to tell the spokesperson about how we wanted a hardtop convertible. To my surprise she said that several other people had come over and mentioned the same thing!

That is great! Keep letting GM know that we want the hardtop version. No more rub marks or top replacements!

Lastly, I told her about all of the top issues that people have been having and she was stunned. She said she had no idea! I told her to check it out on this forum. She already knew of the forums existance.

As a hardtop owner

I live in a place where winter is really winter. We have -6 C (21 degrees F), and 2 feet snow. I am still driving my Peugeot 206cc as a normal car. If you have a big garage, OK, get the cloth, but as I do not, I have a normal car.

As to your concerns about the trunk space, I have 420 liters (15 cubic feet) when closed, which is quite big. When I open the top, I will have to limit myself with the luggage to 270 liters (9.5 cubic feet). But i stll have two small back seats that I can use for luggage. So no big drama there.

Peugeot were the first to build a modern hard top convertible, and all the European producers followed. Why do you think that is?

I would get a hard top camaro convertible over here in Europe.

I'd love one but if there are holes and rub marks on the cloth top, imagine putting the hard top up and bam roof and quarter panel paint missing.

Let’s not forget about the looks folks. I think the 5th Gen rag top is the best looking soft top I have ever seen. Going to a retractable hard top, the vert would lose the special roof line and look that GM worked so hard to maintain. Yeah I guess we could all forget about the looks and drive a Camaro vert with a retractable hard top that looks like crap with the top up but, not me! I prefer my rag top Camaro vert. The thought of a T top does excite me though but, if the economy was not sooo bad you might see an after market company make a T top from a coupe.

If they can retrofit a new Mustang they sure as hell can do a Camaro. GM you watching? You listening to us. Maybe this is the route you need to go instead of trying to fix all the problems with our soft tops. Me wants!!!
