This is just a prototype car. Thankfully it looks like GM cleaned things up a bit. Take a look at the ZL1 out at the LA auto show. A big improvement IMO.
They cleaned it up better this time. I still say they need to route those inter cooler hoses off to the side somewhere and get them completely out of the way of the pulley area? Like put an elbow joint in and route them further over to the air intake tube.
They cleaned it up but still sticks out like a sore thumb. Its the first thing that is noticed when you see the compartment imho.
Not really complaining' just see it as a mod coming.... LOL!

I was at the MCACN on sunday and got a good look at the car from the ground up. I noticed that there is a belly pan that covers the engine bottom. Also looking at the suede steering wheel and shifter I noticed some wear already. I love the look and will still get it with mine however iw ill wear gloves when I drive. I know it will look stupid but oh well the leather wrapped wheel will also show wear by getting smooth and shiney.

VIP treatment too, nice!

Can you explain the wear you saw with the suede? I didn't notice it, but then again I was in lala land trying to keep my wits when inside the car.

If it was just matted down a bit, it just needs to be cleaned to look good as new.

Yes, VIP treatment also. It gave me my permagrin and I still have it. I noticed the wheel had a few spots on it where the suede was matted down completely and worn. However talking with a few people that have raced and had steering wheel with the microfiber suede they stated that wearing gloves greatly reduces the wear pattern. The top of the shifter was a little worn as well.

I Don't care because I am getting the suede option. I think it looks better and feels better.

Here's a thread on the CTS-V forum that gave me a lot more confidence in the microfiber's durability. Was it matted down like this CTS-V shifter knob or was the fiber actually missing/rubbing off?

I'm going to say brucedd is using a Casio EX-Z700. Just a wild guess
You are very welcome I love to share them!

LOL...nice detective work! Yes, a Casio EX-Z700. A somewhat dated but decent point and shoot 7.2 MP Casio.

Wishing I would have got to sit in it and meet Scott though!

I also do have a few 69 Z28 pics and a few 70 Chevelle pics I am happy to send anyone interested in them?

Thanks, It did not look nearly as bad as that post. I just noticed a few spots. Very encouraging of how it came out when cleaned. I am a complete neat freak when it comes to the car so I feel much better.

A special thanks to "fbodfather" Scott Settlemire, GM and his crew who made the time to bring and display one of the prototype 2012 GM ZL1s at MCACN III.

We were all very happy to have them included along with all the vintage ZL1s.

That car has been through a lot. Its the same car they ran across the block at Barrett jackson, they painted it CFM for the auction and then back to red. If you looked at it closely, you could see some of the CFM paint.

I don't think it was painted, I believe it was wrapped. I could be wrong but I thought I read that on this forum.
Either way, your right, this car has been through a lot!

What i was picking off around the wheel sure seemed like paint.
