It all depends on what you truly want. I originally was going to go for the SS. What happened was I inquiring at my local dealer about the SS when my salesman had told me to come and look at a Black SS1 that a customer was going to pick up later that day. I immediately went to see it at lunch time and was impressed just to see a Camaro in person. I was asking about ordering one when he said I have a Rally Yellow 2LT W/sunroof that is for sale. He said they had it for 2-3 days and it was the photo ops Camaro that the dealership and local papers used to take pictures. It only had 16 miles and I figured to try it out. Well let me tell you once I tried it I was sold. For me the 2LT has enough power. I can only imagine how much faster the SS is. I am sure that extra power is nice but as someone stated before there will always be a car that is faster out there. The great thing about getting the 2LT is for a good price you get all the luxuries of the SS2 minus the brakes and V8 engine. I love the Bluetooth and Boss Acoustic's 9 speaker system. You can hook up to 6 phones to the bluetooth. I am 42 with an excellent driving record and even with the V6 it is hard trying to stay within the speed limit. That said I have not as yet got a ticket(thank god). The best thing for you to do would to test drive both if you get the chance. Good Luck and Congrats on whatever decision you make. They are both jaw dropping vehicles. You can't go wrong with whatever choice you make.

I will be getting a 1SS Manual LS3 V8 1SS IOM exterior with black interior in 10 days.. I added the BA and polished rims upgrades and that's all. For the same price, I could have gotten a fully loaded 1LT with sunroof/auto/BA/RS or a 2Lt with just the RS package and polished.. Obviously if I went with the Ls I could save $7,000 if I got no extra features.. It's all what you prefer and want to drive. I chose the more expensive vehicle because that is what I want to drive.. I could live with the V6, but I won't be as happy since I would be wanting what the Camaro was really built for...corvette like speed for about $15,000 less..

So the V6 is for daily driving and the V8 is only for the weekends? I for one will be driving my V8 every day, rain and shine.

Well, stereotypically anyway, I'm sure there are plenty of people that will be driving the SS daily. And its really not THAT bad on gas either, so it is feasible. I know I've heard of a few guys on here that have said theirs won't see rain or other nasty weather But I'm right there with ya, even if I did have an SS it would be driven every day of the week.

V8 was the only choice for me, sold my 01 ss camaro, the only decision you need to make is how much you care to pay to own, tag, insure. Let your wallet be your guide.

I think the biggest decision-maker for me was that in order to get all the same bells and whistles on a 2SS would cost nearly 7000 more than a 2LT out the door. Then, there's the V8's recommended premium gas vs. the V6's regular. So even if these cars average the same fuel economy, it costs more to fill the V8 tank. Eventually, I think insurance costs on the V8 are going to pull away from the V6 a bit. The V8 is more expensive to buy and more expensive to own. If it boiled down to just initial cost, the decision would have been harder, but I think I still would have opted for the V6. It allows me to keep my Tahoe

As a college student paying cash for my Camaro, I had a tough choice to make.

First off all, both the v6 and v8 look amazing, so that wasn't a factor. Seeing as how I was going to drop a big chunk of money and that this was going to be my first car under my name, I wanted it to be the best I could afford. It came down to power vs. style. I love the features on the 2LT and wish I could get leather seats, bluetooth, the BA sound system, etc., but I would rather have roar of the V8 and 400 horses. Also, I know that I can add certain features like the USB port later for a couple hundred dollars, so that made my decision much easier. Plus I wouldn't be able to stand it if 05-10 Mustang GT's could blast past me.

In the end, it's really a personal choice. I couldn't be happier with my decision and as long as you feel that way about yours then it doesn't matter how fast or luxurious your car is.

I had a V6 Camaro. Loved it! But I always wanted a V8. There was no way I could afford one back then. I can now though, so I ordered a V8.

I made a list of things I could do with an SS that I couldn't do with an LT. Everything on it was a bad idea for someone who needs a squeaky-clean record with the police.

V6 cheaper on fuel some have complained 15 miles to the gallon that is nothing special too brag about

My V8 gets over 20 already and all city driving plus testing out the power

The V8 is better on gas the the V6 in what I'm driving now! I guess that's why I'm not too worried about it, that and I already use premium. I don't know, I was always of the opinion: "It's a car! It's meant to be driven!", whether it's a Camaro or a Ferrari.

Sorry for the thread hijack.......

Tough one....both have their places. If ya can afford it....go with the V8. I will have both and am still torn. It can be debated forever but if ya drive a lot, the V6 is great. I think the V6 is the ultimate sports car for a daily driver, but then again I think the Camaro V6 or V8 is the ultmate sports car....Just get what you can afford now and if Money changes, get another or trade in. Good luck with your choice as you cannot go wrong either way.
