I love the manual. I have a 20 mile commute every day. 5 miles or so is stop and go traffic. Shifting never bothers me. I flat out refused to buy an auto when we were looking (wife can't drive manual and doesn't really have an interest to learn).

On the other end, my dad says it will be a cold day in hell before he ever drives a manual dd again. Although, he couldn't hide his goofy grin that first time he did a 5th to 2nd pass in my car and bounced my head off the passenger seat.

It's all what you prefer.

It's no more maintenance than an auto (I've put 100k miles in two different MT cars before replacing the clutch).

Yes, it is 26 more hp, but I don't think it's really faster than the auto since the autos shift faster (not sure about the torque differences either - not to mention, I've never compared the under the curve tq and hp for LS3 vs. L99 which many seem to forget about). On top of that, how often do you use WOT and would you ever really notice that 26 hp difference? If so, you can always mod.

They're both great cars and you can't go wrong with either. Don't be scared of the manual, though. It only takes an hour or so to get good enough to not be a danger on the road. In no time at all you won't even think about it. The only difficult part is not stalling it in first or reverse - and that's really only a challenge for the first week or so. Otherwise it's cake.

Get the auto, it has paddleshifters on the steering wheel (manually controls the gears without the cluch) and it's a great way to learn if you ever wanna go full manual. Personally if you drive in the city or like a more relaxed ride then get the auto, don't listen to these nerds that say crap like " oh the auto moves the body but the manual moves the soul '' or '' only men drive manual cars '' I personnaly like to listen to my music a liitle louder and enjoy the view if you know what I mean and not sit there constantly changing gears every 2 seconds because that's what '' men '' do

p.s if you want that extra 26 horses just get a cold air intake for a few houndred bucks and there you go...

Everyone has their own reasons for selecting their transmission. There is no "right" answer here. You need to get the one you want to drive for your own reasons.

Take each of them for a test drive. See what you think.

Op if ur not gonna race is the extra hp worth it? Also just because the LS3 has more hp doesnt make it faster than the L99. L99 has more gears therefore is the same as the LS3.
Just how many more gears do L99 cars have versus LS3 cars? And no, the L99 is not the same as the LS3. Many similar components, but they're not the same.

Search my friend. Do you mean to tell me the L99 stock vs stock against an LS3 is slower??? Please do explain. HP and rwhp dont mean jack. Tq along with gears is what will determine what is faster. The L99 is shy10 lbs of tq of that of an LS3.

Don't forget to consider the active fuel management on the L99s. Not too many people like it since its gains are debatable. A lot of people tune it out, but it you go LS3 you don't have to worry about it. I know I took this into consideration/pros&cons when deciding on my M6.

I have no problems in stop and go traffic. Thank God I don't have to do it daily but you can idle in 3rd without bogging and do pretty well in bumper to bumper.

Another factor is controlling the fuel management system on your own. If I don't want to do the 1st - 4th shift I don't have to.

I went into the dealer KNOWING I wanted an M6. I test drove an A6 SS, it was fast, but im not a fan of paddle shifters and all plus i wanted the horse....IMO the M6 is much more enjoyable, and it helps keep me focused on the road better, shifting up and down through turns and whatever else comes your way!

Been in some traffic and yes it works your leg a good bit, but I go to the gym on a regular, so anything extra just helps
