GM has had the dominant performance cars since 1954 in the Corvette and later any small block Chevy.

The real reason for my post is that the Mustang platform dates back to the 80s Foxbody cars. They still use the exact same heating AC controls as on my 90 Mustang GT and wow, the suspension architecture was designed back when Roman chariots were popular. Only now, when there's a peformance and appearance competitor in the Camaro is Ford doing ANYTHING to improve performance. Ford fanboys should pay attention to that and ask Ford why that is.

you make a really good point at the end which I never really thought about, now that the Camaro is out Ford is doing what they can in order to improve their performance car.

Though Ford fans tend to buy into whatever For tells them and will buy a inferior product as a result. This also removed incentive for Ford to actually improve their product performance wise.

Though I think its great that the V-6 model for all 3 are actual performance vehicles and not just a rental special or for someone who just wants to look good. The LFX Camaro packs 323BHP and the Mustang/Challenger both pack 305BHP very impressive indeed.

sure but then a couple years after that the Camaros will have their 50th and it will be back to outselling them again. I think they are both great cars, mustang is just not my cup o'tea.

I'm not angry in the least! I've had my share of Fords in this lifetime, 5 Mustangs, two of them new and I just think Ford is ripping it's faithful fans off by doing nothing to improve the breed and the Ford guys buy into that. If there was anything to be angry about, it's how very poorly performing the 4.6 was. I put three high buck bolt ons on my Bullitt and it did absolutely nothing to improve it's 1/4 mile times so I traded it with 7500 miles on it. I wasn't happy about the loss of $ but did get a car from a manufacturer that understands what performance car buyers want.

The current mustang is the best mustang ever. I just happen to think that the Camaro is better and better looking. I think you are being a little harsh on ford though.

No they don't, they're not even similar.

We'll never really know for sure, I guess, but I think the existence of the 5.0 cammer long before the return of the Camaro indicates Fords desire to put the 5.0 back into a production car, and it would have happened with or without the Camaro. It's not like the Camaro came out and all of a sudden Ford said "shoot, now we need more HP", the 5.0 had been in development a lot longer than that.

I am confused. I have a 2SS that was produced on 12/12/11. The Vin# ends with 54371. But, this says that there were only 47773 cars "produced", of the 2012 model year, through December 2011. So what am i missing?

2012 Model Year Produced Through December 2011: 47,773
