So do they specifically ask if it can beat a 2005 Mustang, or is there a reason you picked the first model year of that car's current platform? It would seem odd to me if they weren't referring to the most recent model year when asking that question.

Three years in and still... everytime i get gas, stop a a light, go into a store i may as well get my smile ready, and prepare to speak because it's a given; people are gonna ask. I consider it a pleasure to share the experience. America isn't fair to everyone, and since i got the opportunity to share my excitement, and tell them what they wanna hear it's ok by me. Whatever they want is fine. I should have read the fine print when i bought the car that the public WILL approach you.

Nah, a friend of mine has one and all his buddies think its the bees knees and will spank my car. Hopefully when the weather warms up I can change that. Ton of people just ask me in general if it can beat a mustang, and usually know as little about the mustang as they do my camaro. I'm fully aware of how much the most recent generation of mustang has improved over the last one.

Most people really like the car and will give a thumbs up or a wave. Some will walk up and ask about it (if at a store, gas station, etc. And a few just want to hate and will ask questions like: "is that car really worth the price", or "I hear the new Mustang is faster than the Camaro".

I am like 99 times out of 100. At the end of the day I have my Camaro and I love her. I get to drive her daily and bath her weekly. She is mine and nothing anyone says will change that. Haters gonna Hate. But some people really don't know much about the car but really like the look of it. These people sometimes may say something that may sound stupid or offensive, but they may not mean it that way. It may be that they are intimidated/taken back. Kinda like how some guys feel about walking up to a hot girl and talking to her. Sometimes it comes off wrong.

Attention is attention. Nice/positive or Hate/Negative. A head turned is a head turned.

I get asked the is it a v6 or v8 question all the time, along with the auto or manual. And when I tell them I got a 312 hp v6 auto Camaro, some of them look at me and ask why not the v8. I just tell them I didn't need that much power, and at the time this was all I could afford. Usually they just say well congrats on a amazing car.
In my car club so far every time I went to a show I was the only v6 there, and I don't care if a person laughs at me for having a auto v6 while they're driving a POS car.
Just be happy you drive an amazing car, and all the v6/v8 auto/manual crap won't bug you no more.

Wait till you see all the ZL1 dressed out v6 and SS cars coming soon.

Talk about who's got what.

Where I live I get a lot of, "Hey man, nice car, got any change, I need some food?" (in front of a liquor store) and has thus been dubbed the "hobo-mobile" by my girlfriend.

Gees, I count it a great compliment when folks stop and ask about my car. The stares driving and head jerks to look again are kinda cool. I test drove a new Mustang not too long ago and I immediately noticed that...no one noticed! I've had total strangers drive around the block to come back and ask about it and have taken several for rides since they were so interested. Nice cars attract attention!

+1. Take a little pride people. It's not the size of the engine anyway, right? If it really bothers you, buy a Toyota and no one will ask you anything.
