Wow! That's bad. Really bad. Let's hope these are rare examples of quality lapses and not something that is seen too frequently. The Gen5 Camaro is a great looking car and like many others here and on other message boards, I was hoping GM would be turning a new leaf in quality with this car, but it seems like more and more things centered around quality with this car keep popping up.

Don't get me wrong, every car, especially a brand new model, is sure to have a few issues that wil need to be resolved post-production, so I am certaibly not bashing the Camaro. However, GM is hurting financially right now and the last thing they need is a bunch of questions regarding quality of car that has been as highly anticipated as the 2010 Camaro.

That RJT car was a CTF car according to the thread that it came from. Hopefully the issue was reported and will be fixed.

If your Camaro comes from the factory with mismatched bar covers I would hesatate having them repainted. Matching bar covers is a major problem for body shops doing collision repairs. Factories building cars paint these covers separate from the rest of the car and at different times. Also the cover is plastic and the body is steel. The paint on the cover has a "flex agent" added. While driving around check out other cars on the road and you will see a large percentage have a different shade of color where the bar cover meets the fender or 1/4 panel.

So we should blame the gubment for mismatched paint on our Camaros, Mustangs, Vettes..

Sounds good to me.

The bigger question is how in the hell did that car ever get to leave the factory? We've heard for months now that Quality is Job One. They even delayed the start of production supposedly to make the car as perfect as possible.

That's unacceptable and there can be no excuse short of the car being involved in an accident after it left the factory and that was an attempt to fix it prior to delivery. And look at the poor fit where the three panels meet.

First, please quit calling this a "bumper". It is the front fascia. The "bumper" is a structural member under the fascia.

Two, I would need to see the car in person. Light can do funny things to surfaces and shapes.

Also, is the M in IOM metalic? I can tell you right now IOM is two different collors depending on the lighting.

If someone picks up there car and it is truly mismatched, and I doubt it would get out of Oshawa that way due to the care each and every car is being given, then post picks from every angle and tell us if you aren't happy. And you can see by the other IOM picture posted, it looks great.

So I urge you to not get all excited over a verrrrry poor photo in very poor lighting.

Look at the picture I am posting of Number 3 next to 296. They are exactly the same color, but in the low garage light they look like two different colors.

Delivered Car?

Until I see a customer delivered car with the problem, it isn't a problem! My wife's car is impeccably matched as UCF_WOOT said - even the engine cover is the same IOM. Give GM some credit they aren't stupid...until a owner posts up a delivered car with issues let it go.

VERY good post Number 3 !!!!! Thanks.

He has a very valid point and I believe that it is a VERY FAIR request from GM. WAIT UNTIL IT IS A CUSTOMERS CAR TO TAKE SHOTS AT GM. Taking shots at their pre-pro cars is pretty sleazy. I was looking at the IOM car at my local dealership on Friday and it looked perfect.

Here are production IOM cars:

BTW, 3 and 296 still get me so jealous that I foam at the mouth. Those cars look so good side-by-side that it seems your garage floor should be marble or something.

I wish they would quit making excuses and offering BS answers about lighting and cell phone cameras.

I double dog dare you to show me one of ANY color that matches spot on. You haven't been able to do this on the Vettes as far back as the C5 and you aren't getting it right now.

I hate when people marginalize the shortcomings and act like its NORMAL and we should just GET OVER IT.

Here is an idea, WHY DONT YOU PAINT IT CORRECTLY?

I have two dirt cheap body guys, either one could do a better job using YOUR PAINT CODES!

Paint on plastic and paint on metal will give different reflections. Add to the fact the fascia is at different angles than the hood and fender. Lighting makes all the difference.
