Quick related question...Does the Camaro computer do instant and average fuel economy calculations or just average?

Our Expedition does only the average calculation so if I want to know the "relatively" instant number, I have to reset the average counter so it recalculates only using the short distance since the reset.

I've only seen average on mine. I also haven't seen and indicator on when it drops into 4 cyl mode.

I'm sure hoping if i baby it and keep it in that 60mph sweet spot I can get high 20's out of the SS. not that i will baby it all the time but when i'm just cruising from point A to point B
My truck has gotten 23 in it's sweet spot so i would think a light low to the ground car could do tons better.

Don't wanna bust yer bubble... but "high" 20's will not happen.

IF you drove this in 6th gear for a full tank - highway only AND babied it, you will get 24 tops.

20-21 is with me driving like a "granny" for the most part - only gunning it when stangs are nearby

My wife has control over the only DIC in our garage...I'd have to ask her what it does...

...and I digress...

Interesting. I figured it would get better MPG than the truck straight highway.

Overall I'm getting almost 19 which is almost all city driving. Not bad!! Granted this is during the breakin
period and I'm not letting rpms get too high before I shift.
And I got 22 doing 78, which is at about 2k rpms. 65 in 6th would easily hit high 20's, definitely upwards of 24.

I think it will. More power, but far less drag. The '08 Sierra has a drag coefficient of .43 and probably twice the frontal area of the Camaro. Camaro SS has .35. Highway mileage is about engine efficiency, gearing, and aerodynamic drag; the Camaro has decently tall gears. Even if the more powerful engine is less efficient, the car as a whole ought to do better than your truck.

The only way to get a good idea of your mileage is if you check how many miles you've traveled in 4 weeks, and keep track of how many gallons you've put in the tank.

My 77 Silverado gets 10.3 mpg on the streets, 10.3 mpg on the highway. The only way I could get better mileage is if I pop it into neutral every time I go downhill :-P
