Haha, no that's too funny. Audi guys would of done the same to a camaro that was showing off. The cop chose his side when he waved approvingly at you hehe

Those punks in the Audi were asking for it, they got what they deserve, save the racing for the track. Even if it was another Camaro, they know the laws.

I have seen a lot of this back when I was driving my 68 Camaro, all these punks in ricers would try to egg me on at a light(once in a while I would return the revs) but I would never take the bait, and five times out of ten sure enough there was a cop somewhere watching them when they punch it across the intersection and they would end up getting pulled over and ticketed. One time two cops were watching and we both got pulled over, the cop walked up to my window just to thank me for controlling my urges to race, admired my car for a few moments and said to have a nice day as he sent me away without a ticket.
Out of twenty three years of owning a Camaro I have NEVER gotten a ticket for speeding, wreckless driving, or exibition of speed, why? because I know better.
To the OP you did what you should have done, the idiots in the Audi were street racing on a public road, it is uncalled for and dangerous, the ticket should be lesson enough to teach them a thing or two about driving on the streets and taking others lives in their hands.
Like I said before, I don't care if it is another Camaro, they got what they deserve. |I don't have to worry about karma and hope that some other driver may return the favor, because I DONT STREET RACE! so I really dont need someone else to "cover" for me in the future.

I'd say your fine. Racing is for the track, not the street. The Audi should have known better. Y'all say that the OP should have warned the Audi or that the Audi should have seen the cop before revving the engine. I say the Audi shouldn't have been revving his engine.

My guess is you wouldn't have had to give the nod. The question is whether you were wrong with the "nod", and only you can answer that based perhaps on answering a couple of other questions that will help you, and others, decide:

If it was another Camaro instead of an Audi, would you have nodded?

Would you have instead tried to let him know in some way there is a cop next to you?

If there was no cop, would you have raced him?

Also the possibilty that the cop had his eye on the audi anyways...and the "nod" didn't make any difference...

Well, I know street racing is frowned upon by this board. And it cannot be encouraged. It's kind of like using a cellphone while driving. You "try" not to compromise safety, but there are times that judgement is overshadowed by the "heat of the moment".....

The older you get, the wiser you get. Expect the unexpected. It could be a kid on a bike, a senior citizen with cataracts (Did I really say that?), a dog, a deer, pothole, a small tree branch, or really small piece of tire tread left by an 18 wheeler, or even a policeman. HA! Street driving can be hazardous even when you're just poking along.

Short story: Had my two kids at the time (5 & 7) riding with me to the store. We hit a very small piece of tire tread left on the road from an 18 wheeler. It made a very small "plunk" under the chassis. Didn't sound damaging at all. It was just about a 1" x 2" piece. Didn't think much of it. Got to the store about 8 minutes later parked and went in. I came out a few minutes later and my whole car was surrounded by a pool of gas. The small piece had punctured the gas tank. Just after that, I saw another customer getting out of his car smoking a cigarette. Talk about coincidence! I was scared he was going to throw his cigarette but near the pool of gas and my kids were close. We called 911 and the HAZMET truck came and all was good. But it was not expected a small little piece of rubber could result in such a potential calamity of events. What that did teach me, and I will always remember, is that in the interest of safety, those little "plunks" now always make me do a walk around soon after I hear them.

I've had altercations with 4 deer in my life, a dog or two, squirrels, and the death of an oncoming driver who veered into my lane and overcorrected, resulting in a rollover and pin in. So, at the risk of exposingmy personal history, and hopefully wasn't over boring, pass along a little wisdom to some of the younger drivers.

I recently saw a license plate that I think is one of the coolest ever.

WIZ DUM

When I took delivery of my SS in Oct 09 I picked it up at the docks and made it as far as New Seward & 36th before a green bullet edition mustang driven by some kid started to get pushy with me getting real close to my rear and reving his engine. Being that my overall 5th gen camaro experience was 10 min. I just went along at the speed limit. He finally gave up and went around me balls out only to be pulled over by a merging police car. As I went by I honked the horn and waived. Every kid in Anchorage that drives a car with some power thinks that they are Paul Walker or Vin Diesel.

I would have let the Audi guy know about the cop. I have been in his position and it sucks. Although I think it is funny shit.
