Per the link above, can only be used as power steering fluid in the V6 cars.

Yep, saw the link and app guide. Just wondering if anyone tried it on a V6 manual anyway as the vendor told me it should be compatable.

F*ck, I am fuming..... Purchased my car 2 weeks ago - just got the same efin issue.... I always owned BMWs and Hondas with no such thing - this is my first Anerican car ever.... I live everything about this car....I am almost in tears over thi issue...I don't want ro have to get rid of it... Is there a true fix that someone is aware of ? Or is this a buy back issue ?

500 miles on the Odometer :(

Do you mind me asking what weight you used and where you bought it? I've got a 2012 M6 and the term "notchiness" as described the original poster is a perfect adjective for how this car takes gears...

Thanks for the info.

This is also the first car you've owned, then, that's had to deal with over 400 ft-lbs of torque through the transmission. The TR-6060 will feel a bit like shifting a lead weight no matter what fluid you put in it, and mine still occasionally catches when going into gear even with Redline in the case. If it's actually refusing to go into gear or taking more than a second or two to slip in, then I'd take it in. Otherwise, you may just have to get accustomed to it. If your car is brand new, you don't want to put a different fluid in it.

If you are worried you have an actual issue, I'd suggesting posting a video or finding another owner locally to take your car for a drive.

Just for reference, it should NOT sound like this YouTube video or this YouTube video.

If the grinding subsides at higher RPM shifts or once your car warms up, it's normal operation.

Thanks for your quick response !

I am actually quit used to the power.

My last few cars were

2009 E93 N54 335i M-Sport with a JB4 tune and a few bolting - over 400hp/400tq
2011 E70 X5 Twin Turbo diesel with a JBD tune 350hp/525 tq
2012 E70 X5 Twin Turbo diesel with a JBD tune and a few boltons 370hp/550 tq
2011 E89 Z4 N54 JB4 tune and boltons - over 400hp/400tq
Current - 2011 W212 E350 twin turbo diesel tuned 300hp/490 tq

As you can see from the list above I am somewhat familiar with cars that have similar levels of power (335/Z4 were both 6MT)
Never any grinding issues....

Regarding your later statement: can you please confirm: if once the car warms up the issue goes away and at higher rpm shifts it goes away - does that mean that there is no issue and that the grinding (hard grinding like a video I saw on YouTube -->
). This is normal? While the car is cold ?

This is the same grinding noise I get, I have been driving stick since 16 and know how to shift...Is this trully normal ?

The 2 weeks I owned the car it has been pretty warm in NY and this is the first true cold day...

Please let me know what you think...

Thanks so much for all the help!!!

I don't have the gear grind problem, but it does have a notchy feel to it. Spent around $100 on Royal Purple Synchromax, pump and drain bucket and made a huge mess in my garage changing the fluid this weekend. It feels the same after the oil change. Its not that big of deal for me, I just let it warm up before banging gears.

Mine actually does Grind - I am not sure what to do... I really love this car...I purchased it with plans to keep it as a garage queen for a very long time. Should I persue the buy back option from GM and ask for a new car? Or simply replace the 2nd gear synchroa with the carbon fiber ones as many suggested that could fix the problem ?

If it's grinding exactly like that video, that's not normal, no. To be sure, is there a way you can drag a friend with you on a ride-along to take some video?

You know.... I just had a thought. Does anyone think this is resistance from the stabilitrack or jump shift system? Is this "notching" minimized if you put the car in competition mode (i.e., hitting the traction control button twice)?

If your car is that new and unmodded, I would ride their a$$ until they fix it. The carbon synchro's fix the problem, but most have had limited success getting GM to install them. Tell them to fix it, or buy it back.

Notice the trans temp of the car in the video from youtube you posted. The trans is not fully warmed yet. You want the needle gauge to be between the last hash mark and 180*. Mine is slick smooth at that temp.

Don't base it on the engine temp. If you get the grind with the trans fully warmed then you have an issue.
