my dad was a manager at the Tarrytown plant for 26 years. they used to build 1500 cars a DAY with two shifts... not week! Oshawa is a huge plant with may more ability and they are only pumpin out hundreds a day? WTF.

as to your order, order it now, youll prob get it next month and us preorders will STILL be at 1100.

Those numbers are far from concrete but they're as good as I can figure. So ... that would cover the bulk of the pre-orders. Then you have everyone that ordered since then, and some of those would be built by the end of June too, given GM's seemingly mysterious build order.

I'd say that, given the number built and the ramp up schedule and orders, you shouldn't expect it to be built before July if you ordered now. So lets say that it would be built in August, to be cautious. Add a few weeks for delivery and delays, you're looking at some time in September as a probable delivery date, assuming that there is nothing that holds it up for too long. That could include constraints, being at the end of a long order list with a dealer that has a small allocation, failing quality control requiring a new car, or any number of other things.
Also assuming that GM doesnt have to go C11 and shutdown for a month or two just like Chrysler.

It is a roll of the dice. You may get lucky once GM gets more orders produced. Just don't pay over sticker, just to get the car sooner, that is crazy and a dealer will only be taking advantage of you. I just bought a 2009 Yukon and the dealer who just got a Camaro in the showroom said he is telling people 3 months plus for someone who places an order now. So end of Summer looks to be ETA for folks who are placing orders now.

I don't think GM is going to file C11, I think with them scrapping Pontiac is just the first move of steps to reorganize without going Bankrupt.

production will be ramping up. FbodFather stated that the bugs are worked out, and the quality issues have been resolved. i think over the next month, everyone will be amazed at how many will be out. i look for June build allocations to jump as high as 5 or 6 times what dealers have been getting.

as for the September delivery speculation...........assuming there's no bankruptcy shutdown...........and given the increase in production and the fact that the dealers V6's have been built (and Avis..BS).........i think September is a pretty safe bet!

I think this car along with the other new products is going to save this company. So you would think they would get these cars out as soon as possible.

you would think. i completely agree that GM really screwed this pre-order thing up, and the allocation process is a complete farce also.

but, it is what it is.............ya gotta deal with it. as previously posted, i think over the next month there will be huge improvements.

I think the time really depends on dealers allocations, I ordered 4/21 went to 3000 on 4/29.

you would be correct......i ordered 4/11 and if i'm lucky, i'll see 3000 mid June.

so i ordered another Camaro with exactly the same options, thru John Weber at Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Michigan. John says they were allocated 26 builds for May. Tuesday, that order should hit 3000.......he will let me know. no deposit needed, he said he'll get this built before my original orders gets pulled. nothing to loose.

so now i have 2 orders in, both are doing MSRP/GMS. i would suggest anyone who's order is a ways out, or just wants to order one to call or email John.

I think things will get better. They built close to 5,000 Camaros last month, that seems pretty good, imo.

I chose a dealer that does a lot of sales volume. They are off a major highway that leads into NYC. Cannot get more sales traffic than that, lol. I hope that what they said is true, that a dealer that does more sales volume will get more Camaro's. We shall see.

Oshawa car can built about 1500/day too I think. But there are two lines: Camaro aka 'flex line' and the Impala line. The Camaro line is set for a target of ~440/day. That should happen by the end of the month if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I didn't want to add that. But on the other hand ... GM is already planning on shutting down most of their plants during the summer and the Camaro line was saved so ...

Order one anyway. You should be able to extend your current lease if it doesn't come in by Feb. 2nd. Adding a month or two to a lease is easy to do. Just contact your lease holder and ask them about it.
