Live interviews are a bitch unless you have a script of what questions will be asked. Considering, I thought he didn't do too badly. Although...he should have had a cheat card or notes of some sort in his hand to reference for specific details.

Let me tell you people the salesman must know all the engine and cab combinations and GVWR's for pick ups. All of the cars and competition. The Salesman must also deal with people all day who have 0 respect for them.

Hey I appreciate that car sales people have to be able to answer questions on all the different models in their lots. And to be honest, I don't think it's that big a deal that he didn't know off the top of his head that the color is named "Rally Yellow." Like others have said, he did know the horsepower numbers. However, I personally think he should know the color names. I mean, this is what he does for a living, so at least in most other jobs, you're supposed to be an expert in your field.

But there is one thing worse than a sales person not knowing all the details about one of model lines he/she is selling, and that is lying. Which really turned me off today as a matter of fact. :(

I went to a Chevy dealer this morning hoping to sit in a car and really check out the interior. Turned out that his one V6 model was already sold and gone. No biggie - I'm sure I'll see one soon enough. But I told the salesman I was really interested in the 2SS anyway, and the first thing he says is, "Oh you'll be waiting a long time to see an SS. They just started building them last week. In fact there's only one within 700 miles, and that's in NY." C'mon man! I didn't really dispute it or feel like arguing about it, even though I knew he was full of crap.

So then he told me that I should order one, but I told him that I wanted to see and drive the car before I shell out $35K. Plus I don't even know what color/stripe combination I want until I see them in person. Well, he heard me mention $35K and asks why I need the 2SS, and that I should consider the less expensive 1SS. My answer was that I wanted stripes and leather, and that meant it had to be a 2SS. Well no, not according to him - he said I could order the 1SS with stripes and leather...

I don't think he was actually lying about getting the 1SS with stripes and leather - I think he honestly didn't know. But there was no need for him to lie and say that the SS cars just started getting built last week. There's no way I will buy a car from that dealership now.
