Gotcha on the other stuff too, and agree with every bit of it.

Yes, Neither.

Opt Nutrition is good, but go with the Pro Complex. Or Monster Milk by Cytosport. Both are a higher quality protein with more BCAA's.

Have any of you done crossfit? That's my goal after insanity, but maybe I should do some p90x first to better build up. The best thing about all this stuff is its all good, you get out what you put in.

I've had the 300 workout on my accomplishment checklist for a while now.
Oh I meant no offense to everyone else. I just know from years of reading about fitness online there is a lot of info and sometimes you have to shift through the bad info to get to the good stuff, and I know those boys are veterans at this stuff (not saying ya'll are old Hrpii and CFD).

I love the Cardio in Insanity, and alot of the weights in P90X. Gilad (old workout show on Fit TV) does alot of those low weight calethenics, so its easy for me to do that in conjunction with a run or as an added bonus to the end of the day. Plus as old as he is, he is good to look at it.

My girlfriend does cross fit. And I have some travel wods that I do at the gym but we dont have a crossfit gym in my area. I wish we did.

I love pole fitness for workouts-- it's a lot of fun to do with my girls and I learn a few moves that my boyfriend doesn't mind. haha!!

My vice is junk food so I'm just trying to keep a healthy diet going. It's easier now that I have a more consistent schedule.
Insanity is great! The first week is really rough but you'll get stronger and it will get better.

I agree here...Monster MIlk is packed with some great stuff. I used Cytosport for my protein when I was taking protein. They have muscle milk and muscle milk lite also. Loved!!!!! Choc. Mint...tasted like the mint girl scout cookies but as a protein shake! But my first choice is Monster Milk because like hrpiii said it is backed with many BCAAs.

Thanks bro...everybody's body is different and it is sometimes hard to find that diet or routine that works for you.

Creatine is NOT important. Not sure you could convince me otherwise. I have been competing in powerlifting events for quite some time, and never has Creatine been important, nor do I take it. Also, lifting 4 days a week is plenty. 5 is a little too much if you are hitting it that hard. Give your body time to grow and react to all the great food and workouts. Rest!

Thanks

Got to be careful with the Creatine. I started using it about a month back. Went to the doctor for my yearly checkup and had labs. He noted that my kidney test numbers were up. I thought about it a bit and decided to do an internet search on the medicines I take along with the supplements, and sure enough the Creatine can play havoc on your kidneys.

My friend had a similar experience. His doctor made him stop taking protein shakes.

I have already given it up, not worth the risk and to be honest I didn't notice any benefit from it.

I recently changed gyms from the local Y to a real gym with hopes of upping my intensity level. I'd love to know what supplements work these days. I'm not really looking to get any bigger at my age, maybe a bit more defined though.

God I wish I can get on the p90x an insanity.
They are both just sitting there ! I've been immobilized the past 6 months because of an injury I took to the tendon above my heel.
I'm dying to get active again but anytime I run it cramps up and is a horrible pain.
I have to have it operated to gain regular movement on it :(

Yes, supposedly you need to drink plenty of water to avoid any issues with the kidneys.

Understandable.

I have a full gym at home, along with all the BB vids, but I do use the YMCA. I just go in and do my own thing. I need use of their pool during our insanely HOT summers.
