So if the SS will do that, why is it so hard for the ZL1 (with another 154 HP) to go just another 25.6 mph?? Is it gearing? What? This does'nt make sense to me.

And did anyone else notice the amount of flex in the ZL1's front end on this 200+ run? INSANE!!! Looked like it was about to rip off![/QUOTE

The GT500 is all Ford built right beside all other mustangs right down the same line. The are only Shelbys in name only.

They are not different than the ZL1 being built right beside all other camaros in the same plant.

I don't think it's that hard at all for the ZL1 to achieve these speeds with a bit of tweaking, but 25.6 mph is still a big number when you're trying to hit 200. If you watch the video again, they explain it was the driver & heat soak in the engine which was making it hard for the car to achieve that speed. The driver wasn't driving it properly and the heat soak was affecting it. Once they got the proper combination figured, that was when it hit 200. Don't forget the winds they were fighting as well.

As for the flex in the front end, if you ever see a Z06 doing 200 mph, the front end in it flexes dramatically too. In fact there is a reinforcement piece made for them to prevent that from happening.
I answered the question already. I never heard of a GT500 being considered a turner car. That's a new one. They have been built by ford since they returned in 2007.

I thinks you need to cool it. I was just showing him the answer he was looking for in case he missed it. Nothing other than that.

Lighten up Francis.

Wow man. Chill out! I didn't mean anything by it except that you sounded a little impatient. And I certainly wasn't insulting you in any way.

And...Francis??

Anyone know if they did this in 5th or 6th? I'm assuming they raised the rev limiter for the other mods, but if they ran it in 5th they would of had to spin it to damn near 7,200 rpms.

It's a blower car, that's what they do.

I don't know about walking all over it, but I think it will do it easier and right off the showroom flow.

Pushing a 2 ton car through air at 200 mph is not easy.

What part of the video did you see the flex?

LOL!!! Nice!

I'm with you. Its great that it goes fast and stuff but its gotta look good and stuff too. The Camaro does both very efficiently.

you answered your own question it is the gearing. 176mph at the top of 5th which it gets there way faster than and ss would think about. then you grab .63 6th witch is good for 223 but you don't have the torque to go there.

this car needs a different 5th like the GT500 to really go 200 easily but it would cost you lap time down the strait aways at most tracks as you won't ever see 200.

if you want to learn somethig look at a gear calculator instead of being that guy on the interent. on a quartmile car if you were to run slicks you nomally want to gear close as you can to 1:1 gear being at the peak hp through the lights. this will usually hurt your top speed though and make you car geared so it will never hook on DOT rubber. then for top speed rule of thumb would be top speed redline at the top of 5th being a speed you have enough torque to actually achive.
