I would leave it if I got something in return. If nothing was offered or no money was negotiated off price I would say finish the recall and inspection and I'm coming to get my car thanks. If your dealer is a good dealer an not a crappy one I am inclined to help but not help for free. I know my dealer adds a 3% advertising fee which is BS, but i already agreed to it with msrp I would trade a few days for that 3%, or free painted ground effects or something I wanted. If they got enough nerve to ask you to leave your brand new camaro there then they should have something to offer you in retrurn.

If the dealer had been up front about wanting to keep it on the floor a couple of days, then maybe. But he was flat out dishonest WITH YOUR CAR! He may be a nice guy and all, but unless there's something in it for you at this point, I'd say no.

P.S. And TELL him you woulda let him have it had he been honest from the beginning.

The only way I would let them keep my car is if they take some money off the MSRP.
Agree with this post. However, if they are willing to rope it off and lock the doors AND give you a car cover for a certain number of days on the showroom floor it would be worth thinking about. But you have to resent the way they tried ing you and manipulating you to promote their own interests. Being up front would have been much more acceptable. Even if you go this route I would let them know about their underhanded ways.

Dealer's are Always Great! (when they want something FROM you)

1) Have they given you any incentive to LOAN your car to them?

2) Did they hold YOUR feet to the fire when you wanted to order?

3) They have ALREADY lied to you once! Do you now still trust them to keep people out of YOUR car?

4) How are they going to react if someone scratches the krap out of YOUR car while it's sitting on their showroom floor?

5) More importantly, how will YOU react to the above?

I would be In and Out with the car in a shot, after being lied to, and not offered any incentive to play ball.

But that's just me, and I'm known to be an AH!

If this dealership was located in a small populated area and they just received one of the first SS`s in the area then I guess I can understand why they might want use it in their show room, but still, you really don`t need an SS Camaro sitting on your showroom to convince any one they should own one.

Its going to take a day for them to do the recall take the all the packing materials, do any dealer installs on it, and get it prepped. So if they wanted to show it the second day till i went and got it after work no problem. I wouldnt want people sitting in it.

Rally,

You see? He lied to you twice before reluctantly telling you why they REALLY wanted to keep it. That's what the ONE CAR PER DEALER car was supposed to be for but they probably sold that too. Anybody with enough of a brain to earn an income sufficient to wander in to look at a new car can imagine the little scoop on the front and the bigger wheels/tires. Go get your car!!

What are your thoughts?

Dealer has been great so far; what should I do?
Tell him to pay you.

I agree with several of the comments here. If they had told you up front what the reason for the delay was, I would be inclined to let them keep it for a couple of day with some stipulations. 1st would be that the car would be roped off and no sitting in the car, absolutely no test drives and delivered to you with no more than 15 miles on it. Asking for some free stuff like a car cover or some oil changes is not too unreasonable either. Good luck I hope this helps. (and yes I do work for a dealership and your dealer/sales person pissed me off by not being straight up in the first place)

No way. Having a bunch of people in the car and adjusting stuff and fingering your car? NO WAY!
