a few thoughts.....

The dealer has 14 sold orders -- that's good -- the REAL question is: what is the dealer's allocation? If it's 14, then I'm kinda glad that the dealer isn't taking any more orders right now.......

When driving "Thor" - (an SS/RS...) he'll stop traffic as #3 and Mrs. #3 will verify from driving him to Florida and back.

I drove him to Columbus, OH over the weekend -- my cousin lives on a cul-de-sac in Powell -- and you REALLY HAVE TO WANT TO FIND HER HOUSE because you have to wind thru all kinds of streets in her sub-division......

WELL ..........the word got out somehow -- and there were STUPID amounts of traffic going thru the cul-de-sac -- and several people stopped to gape and look and drool. (yes....I'm prejudiced....but hey, I'm a proud papa...)

No matter where I take Thor, people of ALL ages come over and look and sigh and smile and get all bug-eyed........

So.......is it because he's a loaded SS/RS?????

Welll..............."Miz Teresa" -- who is a good friend and has worked at GM for many years....(and writes all the computer lines on 'how' to build each car....) -- has "Thor Jr." -- a yellow LS with zero options.......she asked me if I'd be interested in trading for a few days - and of course, I love Thor, but I also think the world of "Miz Teresa" - so we switched.

.........and Thor Jr. gets just as many people staring and pointing and giving me 'thumbs up' -- even with the base steel wheels in black.

Again -- I'm prejudiced-- but when you look at all you get for $23,000 -- the LS is quite a steal......yes, the wheels aren't for everyone -- but that's easily fixed. (.....and for those of us who are early to mid baby boomers, the black steel wheels remind me of stock cars from the 50s and early 60s -- when NASCAR used real cars -- not fiberglass with wheels that nobody has ever seen on a car in a showroom... -- there's something 'interesting' abou them.....

Lastly - I've travelled all over this country to Auto Shows - and I love to stand back quietly and watch people as they see the new Camaro for the first time -- and ladies and gentlemen - I've NEVER seen anything like this......

I've also made the observation that we'll probably never see anything like this again -- and by that I mean: A 'hallowed' nameplate --that touched just about everybodys' lives -- went on hiatus -- for several years -- there were a lot of people who didn't know it - but a lot that DID............and then we design a concept that 'knocks it out of the ballpark' -- and then Bumblebee is introduced to the public in Transformers - and now you can buy a car that's a dead ringer for the concept and bumblebee ---

Hopefully there'll be a 6th gen - and if there is, I don't think it will create quite the stir that the 5th gen is creating - because you see -- we went 'Camaroless' for 7 years..........

Soooooooo.........is it all hype?

Or DOES the Camaro touch the soul of millions --

I gotta tell you -- it' ain't hype -- it's GENUINE....and when you get behind the wheel of your new Camaro - you'll see what I mean.

This car is the star of this summer! There is no question. If it weren't for the hype, the showroom would have very little traffic.

Even customers shopping for other Chevrolets ask about Camaro.

Believe it. It's real.

Scott,

The crazy thing is that the hiatus is only significant to those who have been Camaro enthusiasts for the past decade or more.

For many of us, they could have launched this new Camaro in 2003 and it would still have been a grand slam !!!

To me, it is the first "American" car that GM has made since the 70's and that turns heads -- lots of them.

It touches souls... it touches generations. First car I ever rode in was a 67' Camaro, blue w/black top. It was my Mom's and I was a new born. Fast forward 40 years, #4786 will be the last car I ever buy, and it'll remain in my family long after I'm gone. And my Mom? Cannot wait for her first ride.

68 and 69 Camaros...that is the only reason I bought this one. Close to both or I would have bought a restored Camaro. This one is better, hotter, and just badasser.

I was in the exact same spot - on the verge of buying a restored 67'-69' when they announced the 5th gen was for real. I was immediately hooked and knew what my future would hold.

It depends on the market.

You'd see more sales if these pre orders were delivered in a timely manner.

I think the Camaro difinitely steals the show this year. however by next summer folks will be looking at it as a regular muscle car. I cant drive to a gas station without someone asking me ""are you going to get the new camaro?"
The hype is there but after it dies down I'll still be a camaro nut

Well said fbodfather!

"Or DOES the Camaro touch the soul of millions --

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was at the unveiling on May 7th. at the dealer where I put
my car on order.
It is GENUINE -- people were very excited -- you could see it
on all of their faces. It was quite the experience for me.
And because it's an American car it was all the better!
Waiting for my baby (I know it will be sooo worth the wait)!
I know how people react when I'm driving. It is unlike anything I have ever experienced.
I feel so fortunate to be driving a car right now that just mesmerizes people. They can't get enough. It is something I will never forget. It is truly a special car in which no Mustang or Challenger can even come close to in rock star status. Not even close!
That's why right NOW is such a special time to own a Camaro. The window will be open for awhile longer. I hope long enough that most of you up here get the chance to experience the uniqueness of this situation.
i'm completely obsessed with this vehicle but i'm only 19 and CAN NOT afford it. i barely afford mine.
I WILL own one, i'm doing whatever i can in my power to save. it's just going to take time. I'm ok with it though... the longer and harder I work for it the more appreciation I'll have for it.... PLUS my friends doubt me when I say that I'll own it i'll show them
