The a/c is ok in the Camaro, but the climate control a/c in my 1976 Lincoln is by far superior. It was even better before it was converted from R12 to 134a.

Im in florida, Black car with dark tint, AC works fine in fact I got to turn it off or set it at a higher temperature. At noon on the hottest day it takes a few minutes too cool off. Otherwise its been working perfectly

Mine is a 2011 2SS/RS and the ac sucked at first but there was a service bulletin on it they did some kind of reprogram on it and it has worked great ever since.

Interesting, my 2012 AC works fantastic. I also have windows tint. Maybe earlier years are not as good? Or the tint made a difference.

mine gets cool, but certainly not cold. We recently had temps pushing 100 degrees here in NH and it was more comfortable with the windows and roof open while driving. My f150 freezes me out.

Even though I'm sure vehicle color and window tint contribute to the perceived performance of the air conditioning, even when I put my hand right up next to the vents I can clearly feel a difference. Maybe I can get a digital thermometer and test each vehicles air temp right at the vents and film it. The truck will easily and quickly give me goose bumps when on max/high in a mere few minutes, but the Camaro can barely make me feel uncomfortable on max/high on a thirty minute drive with three vents facing directly at me!
There's a tsb on a/c. Go to the dealer and see if they have your vin included. Whatever they do is supposed to fix it.

And there you have it - the new refrigerant types are not as efficient. A bigger power-robbing compressor and much larger weight-adding condenser would be needed to match the old R11/R12 based systems.

This link is for residential R-22 HVAC, but the phase-out restrictions applied to autos as well. 2010 was the final cut-off.

Mine works great. Gets cold fast and can make you freeze in the car quickly.
