I agree with Brandon. I can easily see a tech needing to drive the car to make sure the new dash components don't squeak under driving conditions. Enjoy your ZL1!

Good rule of thumb, don't take your car back to the dealer for anything until it's broken in. Unless it just won't move forward. Once it's broken in even if they take it for a rough spin it's not going to hurt the car other than maybe a little extra wear on your tires.

You have to specify "Do not road test my car unless I'm also in it". You just never know who you are dealing with. Some good honest people, some not. I directed my dealer to not take my car off the lot when it arrives. He said but PDI and we have to go fuel it up..blah blah blah. I went to the General Manager and thats when I got the answer I was looking for. Yes Sir, you have my word sir, thank you for your business sir.

As a former tech, I always drove cars on "rattle road" (as we called it) after a dash R&R. It might be possible that rattles were discovered and they had to run it a few more times to get them ironed out. It's just a few miles...relax.

Trust me, those techs have seen every car there is, and it's just another car to them. A personal exception for me was to PDI the boss's new 2005 Porsche Carrera S Turbo...a $450k car. Yeah, that was cool.

they had to test it in launch mode to ensure it didnt end up in your passengers lap i always let them know ive checked the miles and that the car does not get driven or leave the property without me in it.
