How do you have a $40,000 car and can't afford tags?

$28 a year here but come counties have a "Wheel Tax" that adds from $25 to $50 onto that. Glad my county dosen't do that.

$600 for tags, thats just wrong. I hate paying the $100 here in Wisconsin, and thats if you have personalized plates.

I think the point he is trying to make it is isn't the most ethical thing to do ..or legal when dealer tags are meant only for transporting vehicles from one lot to another or test drives. Just because a cop hasn't asked you about why you have them on, does not make it right.

I get a lot of people do it, especially those who have family owned dealerships..but when we have to pay every year and people who own dealerships skate out of it by trying to play the system it can leave a bad taste in some people's mouths. Again, it is a lot of risk to run when you can be left on the side of the road when a smart cop actually decides to ask and tows your car away.

OP would have to pay half of his yearly license plate fee just in the impound fees alone. Then again, some people pay upward of $800 dollars for high end radar detectors so they don't get a 150 dollar ticket, so maybe I am the crazy one.

I have a 2SS convertible and mine were $548. Depending on what your last name is and when you register you can get by with a partial payment but I'm afraid a whole year is going to cost you closer to $500.

Sounds like someone doesn't have their priorities in line.... Things always come up in life unexpected... That's why I have a saving account and save what I can. Never over spend and be broke....

Ex... My AC goes out and it cost 5000.00 to replace my unit, it's 115 degrees outside and I have a 8 month old baby.... I don't know how people walk around broke with no money put away for a rainy day.

Gotta go with a lot of others. Sell the car. Yo obviously cannot afford it and should have never purchased it. Do you have insurance? God I hope so. Camaros are not a car for everyone. Just because yo like soething does not mean you should buy it. I like jets, but the reality is I cannot afford one so I dont own one.

And I cannot believe people are actually telling this guy to commit a crime by using dealer plates on a car that is not a new purchase. For once, use your head and ignore those people before they land you in jail.

What? $600. In Wisconsin, its $75, and most of us are upset by that because it was like $30 just a couple years ago.

That's the last thing I'd expect to hear from your state. When did Mississippi become a tax hell?
