Mine consists of the following:

1. Polarized Sunglasses
2. Coppertone Sport SPF 100+ sunscreen (Put on 30 minutes prior to leaving and carried with me for reapplication if necessary).
3. Panama Jack type hat (wide brim hat similar to the OP one in post #1).

The only time I wear a cap is when the sun is in my eyes due to the direction I'm driveing. Otherwise it's all fun in the sun.

And yes many people ask me how I got such a dark tan. I just tell them I drive a convertible!

My first experience with the top down I went to put a brand new 45th Anniversary hat on and as I started to put it on I got it just above the front windshield and a gut of wind tore it out of my hand and I was on a 6 land freeway so there was NO stopping
So I went without, 45 minutes later got over to the airport and pulled off the side of the road since the plane was late. Got out of car and happen to look behind the passenger seat and WOW there was my NEW HAT

I'm pretty sure you swooped in and bought the IOM Vert I was about to buy from Napleton back in Feb/March They told me someone from Savannah was coming up to look at it and I figured they were full of crap but my loss was your gain.

I'm originally from Savannah by the way. I ended up getting an SS with a sunroof. Am I correct, was this you?

My other car is a convertible. I always wear sunglasses (if I don't forget or lose them) and wear a cap most of the time. I check the temp gauge in the car or pay attention to the weather report. If the temps are in the 90s or around afternoon time, I don't bother with putting the top down. If the sun is beating down on your hard while walking to your car, it will still beat you down during your drive.

My Camaro is actually my only car that ISN'T convertible! I put sunscreen and sunglasses on my nose and wear a visor or cap if the sun is super bright.

I agree about dropping the top if possible! However, if it's above 100 or below 50, I will likely have the top closed! This IS Texas, and the above 100 temps just left last week. Sunday's "only" 92 for the high saw me out and about with the top down.

The first effective sunscreen may have been developed by chemist Franz Greiter in 1938. The product, called Gletscher Crème (Glacier Cream), subsequently became the basis for the company Piz Buin (named in honor of the place Greiter allegedly obtained the sunburn that inspired his concoction), which is still today a marketer of sunscreen products.[5] It has been estimated that Gletscher Crème had a sun protection factor of 2.
The first widely used sunscreen was produced by Benjamin Green, an airman and later a pharmacist, in 1944. The product, Red Vet Pet (for red veterinary petrolatum), had limited effectiveness, working as a physical blocker of ultraviolet radiation. It was a disagreeable red, sticky substance similar to petroleum jelly. This product was developed during the height of World War II, when it was likely that the hazards of sun overexposure were becoming apparent to soldiers in the Pacific and to their families at home. Sales of this product boomed when Coppertone acquired the patent and marketed the substance under the Coppertone girl and Bain de Soleil branding in the early 1950s.
Franz Greiter is credited with introducing the concept of sun protection factor (SPF) in 1962, which has become a worldwide standard for measuring the effectiveness of sunscreen when applied at an even rate of 2 milligrams per square centimeter (mg/cm2). Some controversy exists over the usefulness of SPF measurements, especially whether the 2 mg/cm2 application rate is an accurate reflection of people’s actual use.
Newer sunscreens have been developed with the ability to better withstand contact with water, heat and sweat. Today, believe it or not, there are many brands and many levels of protection. Find one that you like and also provides adequate protection.

Most everyone has already mentioned it - sunblock and a hat. May also want to have an extra towel or two to prevent getting sunblock on your interior surfaces or to wipe them down with and to dab off perspiration .

Next, if you're sitting in traffic and it's murderously hot outside, crank the AC and set it to "recirculate" and let it blast out of the dash vent only. The vast majority of (any) coupe owners believe this to be silly, if not outright stupid. However, they're sitting in a completely enclosed vehicle doing pretty much the same thing. Your bonus is that you're getting a tan in the process.

The bang for your buck is what you believe it to be.

Also good to mention, putting all 4 windows up creates a pocket of cool air while driving (or hot air in the winter). It also allows for answering the phone on Bluetooth with the top down.
