I would say it a thousand times. NO JAPANESE TRUCK BELONGS PULLING THIS AMERICAN ICON. I guess NASA just looked at the $$$ signs.

Actually, NASA had no say in this. This was 100% the California Science Center's decision.

Well money talks for whoever accepted the deal.

Nice! Diesel for the win!

but to be fair, no domestic 1/2 ton would safely handle that load either. I wish it was a nice big crew cab 1 ton pulling the shuttle. Guess money talks :(

You should've told the California Science Center that you'd tow Endeavour with Fallen Warrior.

A picture is worth a Thousand Words...... I've tried the Toyota and Nissan thing and they both failed miserably with nothing more than daily driving and towing on the weekends. I'll take my GMC 3500 Duramax for my real truck work.

Commercials such as those for the Tundra are bold methods to fool the public. The shameful part is, the public falls for it

I really love the statement on the trailer... "TOYOTA - We're Here To Race"! If you look really close at the small print just below that statement it reads "We just need a little help getting us to the track".

You people fail to understand that the Tundra is more AMERICAN built than your Chevrolets.

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2012/03...n-america.html

Amazing to see that weak argument of AMERICAN built when the Autoworkers Union has pretty much driven the Big 3 American manufactuers out of the country and into Canada and Mexico. The "Imports" are employing almost as many Americans as the Big 3

This is fairly cool, but is sort of a "hat trick," as pulling even fabulously heavy loads on flat ground is not terribly difficult. A few years ago, I had a 1994 Chevy S10 4x4 pickup, with the Vortech-6 in it... bone stock. I was working as a fleet manager for a trucking company, and would occasionally be called upon to "bump start" rigs with dead batteries... it was not difficult. My proudest moment, to give you an idea what can be done, was bump starting a slightly- over- gross (at 81,000 lbs.) rig on a (very slight) uphill: I matched up my police- style front push bumper up the the DOT bumper on the rear of the trailer, got the rig up to about 25 MPH with relative ease, and as soon as I backed off, the driver was able to drop the clutch and start the truck. It really wasn't difficult...
