I haven't seen thee numbers for awhile ,but there has to be a lot more V-6's on the road than V-8's. They are more affordable so more people can buy them. Remember these aren't toys for everyone. Many people use them for their sole transportation.

I see way more V6, and most of them never save back :-/. I was actually leaning towards a V6 due to price before I found my SS. And in my search it was a lot easier to find V6's then V8's.

This thread didn't descend into another V6-V8 hate thread (yet).

Maybe Best Chevrolet has brought us all together as one family........

wave, right?

I agree V6s will typically be more readily available than the V8s, new or pre-owned. If/when Chevy changes base powerplants, i.e. 4-cyl (turbo?) in the near future, it's likely going to be similar ratio as well.

Outside of here it's many more V6's if I remember the numbers I've seen before correctly. On here it's closer together. Probably because the V8 owners are more dedicated overall maybe or that V6 owners don't put as much into the car. Just a guess.

From my Camaro covered iPhone.

The V6 is a far more practical vehicle and a lot cheaper to boot.

There are only more SS's in the 2010 model year because most of those were ordered by Camaro enthusiasts who were all really looking forward to the release of the car and wanted to go all-the-way (majority are fully-loaded 2SS/RS). In every other model year there are far more V6 sold; I've seen a pie chart that indicated 75% of Camaro's sold were V6.

This is true for me... Every day i don't put any miles on my garage decoration is a good day

I agree, it makes no sense at all.

ya, to avoid semantics, I was originally meaning how many are "produced from the factory". Not worried about how many are parked in garages, wrecked, or still at stealerships :P

I drove a v6 and thought it would be perfect for a daily driver. When i went order though I went with the LS3. Even though I drive it daily I didnt buy it because of common sense.

But back to the op's question. For me it is about even Till I pass my dealer ship every morning They have like a 5:1 ratio of V6 over V8 Camaros. Such all are usually automatic except for e occasional SS or 1LS.
I agree with you completely. When I say proportional this is what i mean:

v6/v8 = K x Build Ratio. "K" is the constant of proportionality that represents the unknown variables you speak of. Do you follow?

Build ratio would help to explain why we see more V6's at the dealer than V8's.

And what determines how many of each are built? Demand... If gas prices were $1.50 a gallon, there would probably be many more V8's built than V6's, as the demand for V8's would be much higher. As it is, in today's economy, AND, with gas over $4.00 a gallon, the V6 is a popular choice...

Same with automatics. More cars are built as automatics, because most people prefer automatics.

In my neck of the woods I too see far more 6's than 8's...

That's what I'm saying too, but expressed in math instead of words.

$5 per gallon gas...maybe that has something to do with it.
