To me it was my means
I have don't have the means for an SS too much horsepower just for 90 percent driving around town and some highway and then auto crossing every few weekends It's cheaper and better on gas. lower insurance although its not by much get that v8 if you want it, there are times where I wish I had 2 more cylinders but it's not often. |

First, definitely buy only what you can afford. Second, buy what you really want, even if it means waiting a little longer to save the money, etc., your will be happier in the long run.

OP, if you can afford the SS and upkeep of the SS I say go for the SS. Obviously a used SS will be more affordable than a new SS.
However, if you are set on getting a Camaro and a Camaro that is affordable to you with the options that you want, the V6 is a great choice too! You can't go wrong either way. ![]() Good luck on your decision! |

I was having the same dilemma... but I chose the 2 LT over the SS because this car is going to by my primary driver for the next 8-10 years. The gas mileage was the deciding factor for me. Trust me, the V6 will still do 120 mph on the interstate... It's all the power you need.

OP, you claim be familiar with the forums and all the v6,v8 "issues" you are having...If that's the case, you should know these topics/threads are pretty pointless and counter-productive....Go buy a Mustang.

I test drove a half dozen V8s and a half dozen V6s of varying configurations. Both had plenty of power for me. I wanted a commuting car that I would drive every day. I'll never be getting on a track.
The V6 has way more than enough power for road fun, and the V8 just wasn't worth the extra expense for me. It didn't feel different enough. I've never had a single regret for my 2LT. It's a fun, fun car that gets me stares constantly.

If you have the V8 bug before you even buy the car, get the V8. You will never be happy with just the V6, not if you really want the V8.

At the end of the day, it is all about what YOU truly WANT. It sounds to me like you already know what you really want, and that's a 2011 2SS/RS. If you can't afford that right now, my advice would be to put it off for 6 - 12 months. Make the purchase with a bigger down payment, smaller loan, and smaller price. Then you will be able to afford what you actually wanted. Patience is a virtue, and you will be happier if you wait and get the car you really want. Don't settle, if you do, you will get the car six months earlier and regret it for the next five years.

Your own words above say it all. You already know what you need and want. You better get a V8. If you don't, you will wish you did. Do it right the first time. Just Do It.

Save the money till you can buy the one you REALLY want! Your dad is right... once you buy its yours and it will be worth every penny to get what you want and just wait! I would NEVER buy a v6 camaro... but for me its all about performance and sound, I race and beat the piss out of my car!
For a guy who just drives it to work and dont care to be the fastest guy on the street... then the V6 is a great looking car with ok performance. If your ok with that, then get the 2lt... but if you want the real experiance of driving a camaro, you know what to do I waited 2 years to get a loaded SS... dreamed about it every day and it was worth the wait!

Sounds like your heart has the beat of a V8, so do not get a V6!
