...for me, I followed the recommendations until I felt comfortable with the car. I did alot of shake down runs to see what it could do and how it responded. Once I got to know the car I opened it up. Seems to me the car comes to you over time as if there is something within the algorythims to allow full power output beyond the normal engine loosing up during the relatively short break in period. The car reacts widey and variely between road temp, air temp and tire temp differences performance wise and gets real hairy to control in cooler weather.

question 1: leave LC on. Streets aren't prepped; and squeeling tires will get Johnny Law in your hip pocket quick. A brisk start will get you to the speed limit quicker than most; and the open exhaust note will impress drivers and observers anywhere close.

Question 2: If you ask Scott Settlemire, he will tell you to strictly follow the break in steps, if you want to motor to last 100,000 miles; ignore it if you want a few more horsepower and dont care about longevity.

....place lawn chair in trunk, go to car shows, and keep it in sport mode tops unless you have extensively driven a car within an inch of your life. Otherwise, this isn't a top pick for learning "how to"....

My ZL1 is a daily driver so I have played with this alot. Launch control is ok, but I rarely drive around with the PTM modes on because you can just feel the power being sucked from the engine whenever you step on the gas hard (even in Mode 4). Having said that, I usually drive around with TC on and launch from a stoplight around 3k RPM depending on the weather and just be mindful not to bog the engine and keep the gas on...this usually nets pretty good results. During the hot summer I sometimes would take TC off for slightly better launches, but generally speaking I leave TC on...after all, I do have to remember I'm driving on the street and not the track
