If I can obtain all of my student loans online (all $190,000 worth) through Citibank without ever having to speak to anyone, I do not see why people couldn't do the same for cars. I don't see any reason why all the options, application for financing and various fees could not work in an online format. Do all the paperwork online, pick up the car at the dealer. It could be so simple. The dealers will bitch, but give them $500 or whatever for basically doing nothing except unloading the car off the trailer and they'd probably put up with it. Somebody has to be with me here?
AMEN!

Sounds like someone needs to dispatch some black Suburbans to South Florida.

I sometimes wonder why GM doesn't send GM reps disguised as customers to areas like that. THOSE are the dealers that need to lose their franchise.

Long ways away, but my experience at Classic Grapevine Chevy, TX has been nothing but wonderful so far.

I went into one of the larger dealers in my area this weekend with my girlfriend because I knew they had a car in their showroom. Now, I already have my car ordered and on its way to me from out of state because when I was calling around on 10/13 these guys, and the other dealers in the area, all wanted ~5K over sticker -- of course they don't know all of this about me.
I pull in, park, and start to look around the lot a little to see what they have. It's a decent sized lot and I don't spend much time there and head into their showroom. There are no less than 3 salespeople standing around their main counter not 5 feet from their Black 2LT that we're both looking at now. We walked around it, checked it out for about 5 minutes or so and walked out. Not once did one of them say a word to us. One of the salesmen looked right at us and then looked back and continued talking with the others.

I don't know what their problem was but I now where where not to go for service. I'm 26 and my girlfriend is 31 so I don't think they thought we were just a couple of kids out to look at a car but who knows. Their loss, it's sad that that car was sold because that means someone else had to put up with their atrocious service and $5k markup.

Don't take it personally, the car sells itself. They want you to go over to them and offer over MSRP.
This will not last much longer

I'm patiently waiting for the day when there are several Camaros on the lot and I can get it below MSRP with very good financing.

To date...I have only seen one 2010 Camaro on the road. Red SS non-RS with white stripes on A1A in Pompano Beach.

'Could be a loooong wait for you... I saw that one, but I'm 99% sure it was IOM (orange), not red. The only other one I've seen on the road is a yellow non-RS 2LT that someone paid over sticker for at Tower Shoppes (it was supposed to be the dealer's showroom car).

I stopped into my dealership today, the one where I paid $5K over. Six of the many salesmen there had all my info and not a one of them EVER called me about my Camaro. Back in August, I randomly called and was connected to a newbie at the used car lot. He was young, had only been selling for 3 or 4 months and though he sold me my camaro (his first camaro sale) he was laid off. When I went in the other day, he was back on the lot - told me he had been called back and is now working seven days a week. He was so happy to see me he ran up and gave me a hug. He didn't have a lot to do with the final sales price and I've long since given up caring that I paid 5k over msrp. what the hell... I got the car I wanted and I didn't have to wait for her.

Yes, they are still selling them at 10K over msrp! Columus is a small enough town and they are the only dealership within an hour and a half any direction. But for the most part the customers are treated pretty good, that is if you are a guy. If you are a woman, ask for David McCarther and tell him Miss Lani (pronounced Lonnie) sent you. I promise you, he will take care of you and will always treat you with respect. The final sales price though is ultimately out of his control, the big boss in the tower is in control of that.

p.s. If my hubby had been home from the sandbox, I would have sent him in to do the wealing and dealing for me and he would have been happy to do it for me. No promise though that he would have been able to negotiate a better price from them for this car. Tis the nature of the beast in this town.

MSRP

I finally got my 2 SS from Johnson Chevrolet in Clintwood, Va. It had been ordered since June 1, 2009 and i took it home on December17,2009. It is a small town dealer and i have bought quite a few rides from them. I have never had a problem with any of them and i really do not think i ever will.
Great bunch to deal with.

Thats why when I come in Im going to go to the sale's desk.Tell them EXACTLY what I want.

If I get anything other than,Sure lets set it up Im walking it out.And before I do Im showing them the 10k cash that I was planning on putting as a deposit..Its going to be my first car purchase but at 20 years old I better get the same treatment as a 50 year old...If I get one bad move Im just either going to ask for a new sales person EVEN if we are already about to sign or walk away with the same copy of the paper.Just showing up to another dealer and showing them that get me back to where I left off.
