I have an LS Camaro, No Oil Pressure Gauge, Our Cars do have an Oil Pressure Sensor, I added an Oil Pressure Gauge, along with a Batt. Volt Gauge for $20. and it was this Gauge, that one Day, while I was Driving, noticed the Reading seemed a little Low, when I got home, I checked the Oil Level and was confused, wasn't sure about the dip stick reading, saw Oil on one side of the dip stick, which looked good, but didn't see it on the opposite side, so I deceided to add a little Oil and see. The truth is, you have to see Oil on both sides, to have a true reading. If it wasn't for the Gauge I added, I would have driven longer on low Oil.[

That's a cool digital readout on your trim strip. Is that the gauges you added?
I have ordered the 4 pack gauge set for the console.

Would a sensor be bad I don't think so, but if given a choice between having a sensor OR a dipstick I would take the dipstick all day long. I just have more confidence in myself to check it.

Man this thread blew up. I dont want the gauge to replace the dipstick. I posted a thread on how I lost 5 quarts in 3000 miles. I drive very long trips a lot. So it would be nice to have to monitor the oil when driving 2k miles on a trip.

In all fairness angry bird was a little over the top, but he spoke truth.

But after that quote it went off the rails.

The bottom line is it is not hard to check oil. Twist the dipstick as I have seen differences. A gauge sensor would be a nice touch I just don't know which I would want to replace my dipstick. If one could have both great.

I warn just don't let sensors think for us, they are tools and that only.

They have the sensors. They mount inside the oil pan.
It looks like a simple level switch that could be hooked directly up to a 12v source with a indicator light. The only thing you would have to remove the oilpan and figure the proper mounting level to get an accurate low level condition. Not a gauge but a low level light.

Now we're talking Anyone know how to find a good spot for this? Ideally the indicator would go on when you hit like 4.5 quarts or close to that.

Didn't you read my post?? I don't have a Level indicator, but the Oil Pressure Gauge, I added, did tell me ( while I was driving) when my level was low.
