In my mind (and obviously I am biased) we do have an answer, it is the ZL1 and I have never left my driveway and went somewhere where I did not have to make a turn at some point. There is much more to life than between traffic lights .
I completely agree and I know this sounds stupid but I'm arguing that point to the guy in question, but all he wants to argue is quarter mile and in that sense the ZL1 is no competition to the GT500. Cobra Jet, likewise, is also faster than the COPO. So when said guy is wanting to argue only quarter mile times I got nothing. It's a petty argument, no doubt about it.

(http://www.mifbody.com/vbulletin/sho...-can-t-do-this) - The thread has since been cleaned up and closed. It was over 100 posts long talking about the Camaro sales figures being better than the Mustang, the ZL1 review being better than the GT500, the ZL1 being an all around track car and being developed on the track and not the drag strip, etc, but alas got too ugly and was cleaned up.

I only created this thread because I was just hoping that someone might have gone 10s with a bolt-on ZL1 and hadn't posted their time in the timeslip thread so I could turn around and prove him wrong, but alas it appears to not be the case.

Gosh, some COPO owners, with some dialing in, might have something to answer with, given a chance to fully understand their rides. After all, the Winter Nationals are only a couple of weeks away.

Don't fall on your sword just yet...

I finished the break in period right as the tracks around here were closing last year so I never had a chance. I will hit the track in Spring when the tracks open up. It dyno'd 535 rwhp bone stock so I know the car will run strong after I get some track time.

There have been a couple copo cars in the mid 8s.. how is this not a answer for the cobra jet?

And this BOARD does not allow any kind of vids of actual comparison in the real world of cars. I hav e personally ran a new GT500 in my zl amd in a drag race there is VERY LITTLE diff at the end. I have the vid but they wont let me post it.

a zl with any mods at all will outrun a GT500.. those cars are limited by tire, suspension, and have a hp ceiling no higher than our lsa.. maybe even less..

The worlds fastest blower on blower (no nitrous) puts the Gt500 BEHIND THE ZL1 and the GT500 that was doing it had a ton of suspension mods.

The GT500 is faster stock for stock but not by much and as soon as any mods are added to the equation on both cars the advantage goes away..

Remember the Gt500 comes from the factory with 14pounds of boost and a cold air and a bigger blower...and while mustang guys like to bring up displacement, its only a 20ci difference now.
