It's hard to explain without the caliper in hand but the video below explains it. It's not hard you just have to be able to see.

I cant remember how to find "h" in the unknown angle question.. does anyone know how?

why is it called unknown angle if you have the angle as 47.6? Shouldn't it be the unknown hypotenuse problem?
In any way, multiply both sides of the equation by 5. You should have 5*(Sin 47.6) = h.
edit: multiplied out, 3.692 = h

I honestly dont know why it is called that lol. I have to find the height of the gage blocks

Why did you multiply number 2 by 12"? Do they want the taper in inches per foot?
