At low speeds the SS does feel slower then what it is. When I put in the 3.91 gears it made the car feel 800 lbs lighter. 10 times more fun to drive. The car with 3.91s would get going from a stop with just lightly hitting the gas. I have the LS3 so I had 3.45s.

That's what I think. I've had several different performance cars and all were very rough and vicious compared to my Camaro.
Even my roommate's Jetta feels a lot faster and stronger when I drive it, but in actuality....well, lets just say he's never beat me to the neighborhood turn in from the intersection down the street

I got my 2012 last spring (LS3) and have been extremely underwhelmed by it from a seat of the pants point of view. I love the way it looks walking up to it, it looks look wide, mean and aggressive. Then you sit in it and pull away. The feel from the drivers seat is lame compared to the muscular look it gives a you look at it.

So, I'll be installing a supercharger in the upcoming weeks. That should help make the feel whole diving match the emotion while looking at it.

A year old, 2800 miles on it, willingly voiding the warranty. What is wrong with me?

Cool, my 1LE rear end gets installed next week. Can't wait.

Agree. It feels like very heavy on the 1st and 2nd gear.

Before my 10-SS my prior car was a pullied 04 Cobra. When I purchased the SS I thought the car felt slow for having 426hp on the initial ride home. Within two weeks the mods began. Having been in a Challenger and now a 5.0 since then I can honestly say the SS was the slowest of the 3 in stock form.

Here are the facts I have to offer. I dynoed mine at 4000 miles while stock for the heck of it = 366 rwhp. Then at 12,500 miles the stock baseline dyno before the cam install was 378 rwhp. Both runs on a Dynojet, different shops, similar conditions (temp, humidity - etc.). Why was it 12 hp higher? Finally broken in? Different dynos - different numbers? I've heard some experts say that dynojets don't vary that much from one to the other in the hands of competent operators. So maybe mine made more hp after more miles. Others will say - you can't compare numbers from different dynos. You decide.

Here is my perspective on seat of the pants performance. When stock there were days I thought - what a slow pig. Then there were days - what a beast! I think it was as much my attitude as anything. One thing was a constant - the only times I thought - what a beast! - were when I showed it no mercy. High rev starts (usually from a roll in first) and banging the gears for all it was worth. I believe the sensation of power and performance is heightened the more noise and motion there is (loud exhaust, firm ride, low to the ground, vibrations coming up to the feet and hands). A full out assault not only got all those 426 horses fully involved but the sensations increased ( louder exhaust, more feedback from the road). Then it was a beast. If I rolled into the throttle with the rpms low - then the pig showed up. It bogged and did not feel like 426 hp.

Now with the cam/bolt-on package not only do I have more power (22% more than stock) but way more sensation (sights, sounds and smells) especially with the cutouts open! Its a beast all the time - even at idle.

Any break in is going to occur in the first several hundred miles.

One factor may be the ECM "learning". I don't have enough knowledge of the programming to speak to this.

For the HP it has it does seem sluggish to me getting going most of the time but I chalk alot of it up to me apparently being a defective human being who will seemingly never be a decent stick driver.

I had a new 1993 Z/28 with auto, and at about 7,000 miles, it was as if the car became a whole new vehicle. Interesting that you experiences the same thing 20 years later. Can not wait to get my new one (7 more weeks)!

Its heavy, and its probably way more insulated/refined suspension wise than your previous car.

Driving my dads 79 makes it feel like a rocket, cause its all thin metal, no insulation, you hear the engine exhaust a lot more, the suspension isnt nearly as nice so when you get on it it wants to rear back, etc.

The 5th gen camaro keeps the car planted better, puts the power where it needs to go, is smoother in delivering it, etc. The power is there, it just doesnt feel like cars used to
