That's great info...for sure worth looking into to see if his car falls into that category....

Are you using full synthetic or half and half? Because if you are using half and half your car will still measure your oil as if you were running full synthetic and therefore it wont tell you you need oil since half and half only last about 5,000 compared to full synthetic which is about 7,000 miles. When I first bough the my camaro I thought I was suppose to follow what the dic said, but when i spoke to the dealer they told me that you shouldn't rely on it unless you were running full synthetic and they explain to me what I am telling you.

Interesting. Just changed the oil. 5700 miles on Mobil one at about 22% left as to useful life. But my car is setup to run the new oil from GM which is semi synthetic.

You don't deserve to have GM (and ultimately the rest of us GM buyers) pay for this repair. You need to take better care of your car period. This is negligence.

Good luck swapping out your mods too. The warranty denial and the reason is tagged to your cars vin already.

If you need to buy a new engine just get an ls3, don't spend 8k on a v6.

I didn't think too much about it, but decided not to drive since nothing on stick meant at least 2 quarts low. I decided to just do an oil change since it was close anyway. The SS holds 7 quarts. I did the change using a 5 quart jug and bought 3 one quarts. I drained the oil out changed the filter and filled it back up. I always put the old oil in the empty containers to take them into the parts place. The old oil was very black and smeeled burnt. I will start changing the oil when its says 50%. That is too long. Also, The old oil didn't even fill the 5 quart jug. This means that the low oil alarm didn't even come on until the oil was half empty. I don't know where the oil went. I haven't noticed any leaks, but I'm now am checking the level frequently and looking more intently for a leak until I figure out what happened.
hmm you might be one quart off I do 8 quarts on my oil changes, have been for past 2.5 years
