Gaming possibly

Dell isn't the only brand that has ultrabooks. Check out Origin.

no matter what mac you choose it will never be good for gaming. I have Mac Book Pro 15 inch with very similar specs and i am now wishing i didnt get it. working in my internship using Widnows 8 has showed me how horrible Mac is when it comes to almost everything computer based when you get in depth. Im an IT major so thats why it matters to me

But to answer your question either 13 inch you listed will be more than enough for what you are looking for. So i would just go for the one that will cost the least

You're wasting your time trying to talk a Mac person away from a Mac. That just doesn't happen.

Macs suck at gaming. SUCK. Let's be honest, they suck at pretty much everything.

I blew so much money on my MacBook Pro and I regret it every day of my life. Biggest POS in the world. If I wasn't giving it to my mother so she can have a new Facebook machine I'd run it over with my bus.

For less than what I paid for that POS, I bought a 15.6 inch HP Envy DV6 with a better, faster processor, more memory, better graphics card, better battery, pretty much everything is better. To hell with Apple.

If they're using gaming as a justifcation for which kind of computer to get, it's PC hands down, and I don't even play games on mine

Not saying it will be used for gaming at all. It will be used for school work but theirs always a possibility of a game i might play highly doubt it though.

I have a 17" Dv7 with everything upgraded and the battery lasts about an hour... and its slow as poo even after deleting everything and restoring to factory not to mention overheating and shutting its self off all the time even on a cooling pad plus the battery crapped out and i bought another one and it still dosent work

I'd still take it over a Mac.

Seriously. I lived with one for almost three years. The honeymoon period was awesome. Then everything went downhill from there. Slow as hell, zero battery life, compatibility issues with software, ridiculously expensive repairs/software/hardware.

Look at other manufacturers. Not only will you get a better value for your money but you'll get an all around better computer.

HP's are garbage. I've had two myself. They didn't even hold a candle to my current Dell.

I have both. I like the thinness of the Air and the solid state drives. But, you lose the optical drive. Won't crap out on you. The Pro offers more in terms of speed, storage. Just depends on what you value.
