Having the car taken apart in order to replace the windshield does undo a lot of tightening bolts meant to be used one time. Like a poster above has said, take a picture of every visible interior part of your car as scratches are common as they remove the parts and lay them on the floor..etc.. Hopefully a good job is done with the glass replacement, however like I said more often than not you have other issues come up later on that are not glass related but just by the way the car was put back together... Find a reputable company and experienced people and you should be ok. So many horror stories though to ignore..

Safelite vs. non Safelite

Point 1. I have a GMC Envoy whose windshield is a rock magnet. The first time I used Safelite (recommened by the insurance guy of course) and the first rain it leaked in two places. While I was hassling with the Safelite guy (who wanted to put silicone seal on the rubber gasket) I got another rock hit, fortunatly and took it too a local glass shop. They fixed it like new.
Point 2. Since then, my Passat got hit with a BB shot on the freeway, I took it to the same shop and they fixed it beautifully. Get a good job done and you won't ever notice the difference from factory new.

And on the dash.... had a windshield replaced a couple months ago and there were numerous scuffs/scrapes on the dash area that I know weren't there before, unfortunately it was night when I picked it and I didn't notice until the next morning...

thats because they guy who did the work was a hack!!!

if soething happened like that on a job i did you better believe the customer would know about it (because i would tell him) and it would be repaired or replaced.

OK try this. Unsnap your wiper from the arm, hold the arm 6 inches from your windshield and then let it go. That's metal upon glass. I can see it cracking very easily.

A wiper arm cracked the glass?!
Hell, if I'm ever driving in slush and the wipers get coated, I guess I shouldn't reach out the window and snap them.

Actually, no. What other choice do I have? I'd just storm into the dealer and start calling reps. That's freaking ridiculous, and it's not your fault or could have been a conceivable outcome of dropping the wiper arm. Jeez, imagine if you slammed the door or hit a pothole!

When i was 20 which is forever ago i did this same thing. I changed a wiper blade and the arm slipped from my hand and it pop the windshield big time. From now on when i change the blade i always put a towel under the arm always. No worries bro new windshield and your golden. Dont get mad at your friend for this things happen. You will look back at this years from now and laugh about it trust me. Its one of many memories your car is going to give you

This happened with the wiper off the car. It was the metal arm that hit the windshield. They used the wiper to get the oil cap. This could easily crack the glass.
