All I have to say right now is it's about time GM did something. I always new they could, it was just a question of desire. "Better Late than never GM" !!!

It was explained that the dealer cannot officially enter an order if they don't have allocations. The 'list' is an internal wait list that gets entered as allocations become available. Their initial allocation was 6 and they are still waiting to complete those. I believe they got 1 delivered.

With the change in allocation policy and ramping up on production, the situation should get better. I just hope I can order and get my car delivered by Dec 09 to take advantage of the tax credit, but not holding my breath. If not, more time to save for FI, exhaust, and wheels... unless wife puts her foot down.

Too bad she can't drive stick...
and doesn't read this forum.

I believe FIFO should have been applied from the start. But it is what it is. I tried to pre order from the dealership (Reed Lallier Chevrolet, Fayetteville, NC) that I had a relationship for over 15 years. Their greed and inability to recognize their future loss caused me to shop around. I found a dealer (Rick Hendrick Auto mall, Cary, NC) willing to order for MSRP; however, I’m #30 of 60 orders taken. They have delivered 5 to date. With FIFO implemented now I don’t see an advantage for the loyal GM customers who have already place orders. Just another patch towards GM’s inability to control their organization! Either way this has been ugly for the customer. IMO

WOW !!!! I kinda figured Hendrick would have gotten more of a priority with the amount of support from GM and the amount of shops he has.... Plus wasn't RH the first person to drive it off the line #1 VIN ?

Any dealer could enter orders over their allocation but it would be stuck at 1100 until they got a spot from GM. I thought I saw some posts where someone would go in and order from a dealer that had no open allocations at the time. Now that dealer got extra allocations and car status is past 1100. IMO Servco leeward needs to start placing orders in workbench, it will not hurt them if they did.

Follow-up correction to my original statement and addendum...
(Actually makes sense per what's happening at other dealers across the nation)

Leeward Chevy can put orders in the system. It will not be picked unless there is an allocation. The reason they chose not to do this is FIFO orders is may not possible due to constraints or other factors. GM may pick newer orders ahead of older orders that came first.

By placing orders in the workbench only when allocations are available, this ensures 1 order for 1 allocation process. There are situations where constraints are stalling older orders, but you'll minimize somone off the street yesterday without allocation getting an order picked ahead of 10 previous orders in the system with allocation.

They are trying to be fair to customers in this difficult situation. GM turn and earn plus the ramping up on production is helping. Dealers are getting new allocations, but Hawaii is often considered a foreign country in respect to access and priority(opinion living here over 40 years). JN & Cutter will sell you an available car for $10k - $15k above MSRP. People in Hawaii with disposable income are buying them at these inflated prices. Others are waiting. Greed affects Hawaii harder since there a fewer options and/or options are much higher in cost.
