It's the same story here in co, ill go 1&1/2 years and then get harassed, after about 4 times I just decided I would rather have everything on the car like its supposed to be and not have to worry about being pulled over anymore lol I am kind of curious to see if I get pulled over for ghosted sidemarkers though 😳

Well until Sept 1st in Texas there was NO penalty for not having a front license plate due to a legislative screw up. As of Sept 1st it is up to $200. The cops were probably just briefed on this so were on the look out.

Yeah, I was just about to remove the front plate and rather than repeal the law they make the fines official.

Speaking from my personal experience ONLY (I was a police officer 2006-2010.)
People wonder why cops harrass them for dumb $hit like this. The answer is pretty simple.
IF the officer is honest and playing with straight dice, a legitimate reason is needed for a traffic stop. People do not understand how dumb other people are. Many is the time that I pulled someone over for a dumb trafic violation and there on the seat next to them is a big bag of weed, or they have an open felony warrant, etc.
Honestly you get some of your best arrests from traffic stops.
Also, while quotas are illegal, you generally need to account for your time, so if it is a slow day in patrol, you go out and write some tickets.
I am not advocating this, it is just the way it is.

Harrassment is a criminal offense, stopping someone for a traffic violation isnt harrassment, its doing their job. But I'm sure you know this in your vast 4 year career.......

Easiest thing to be pulled over for is the license plate light not working on the rear. As stated above, they pull you over for a fixit item and find all kinds of other things. Always make sure your taillights, lic plate light, brake lights, headlights are working, easiest things to get pulled over for.

I only have an issue with equipment issues on cars if the driver is a d*&k or there is a more serious infraction I could cite you for...the fact that you are cool and have everything together? I would 86 the moving violation and write you for the plate...a non moving violation.

How long do you have? You didn't get a citation....so, take as long as you want...or until you do get a citation.
Must be why a buddy of mine got a ticket for not signing his registration.

first time I heard of that getting a ticket.

He was pulled over for a no front plate (and got a ticket for that too)..

I'm guessing he might have been a bit of an ass to the cop.

This is usually the best way to make the situation worse.

If you live where it's required to have a front plate, and get cited for it, it's not the cops fault. Consider the ticket a "no front plate" tax and move on.

I've said this before: I just don't get the plate phobia. If it's a street car, it's gonna have plates.

I have the stock front plate holder, and my Camaro still gets compliments and goes fast.

I'm not going to drill into my new bumper..

and having a front plate detracts from the looks of the car.

Why did you pick the color you did? or the mods? or your wife?

It's a personal choice.. period..

So, if I have to pay a fine because of it, so be it.

Since I bought mine used, it already had the front plate bracket attached. I may see if I can get SIM colored brackets. Any ideas where I can pick that up, or just spray paint the brackets with silver?
