But to add to the thread, I talked to my dealer yesterday and she doesn't know how to track the orders. -_- apparently it "couldn't be done" from the building they're in she had to call a sister dealership. Seems something fundamental that a dealer should be able to do...

Are 1le's numbered cars. If not then they are just an SS with a a performance package.

I remember going to a dealer years ago to order a 4th gen 1le. Talk about clueless. These guys thought I was in dreamland. I finally gave up and left.

I stopped in at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Durham, NC yesterday during my lunch break to ask when the new Tahoe's were going to be in. I am thinking about trading out of the Wife's old Jeep Commander.

Anyway, the first salesman to approach me asked me if I got my 20" ZL1 wheels locally or off of ebay. Then he said he liked what I did with my hood. I looked at him and asked, "you have no idea what you are looking at do you". His reply was, "an SS you modified... right?".

So, I walked him to the big poster board area that shows all of the Chevy models. Thumbed to the Camaro and showed him the 1LE option page that showed a car just like mine. He was shocked. Didn't even know that option existed.

2 other salesmen reacted the same way. The salesmen at Hendrick in Cary are wayyyy more knowledgeable. Only reason I stopped in at the Durham dealer is because they are closer to my office.

If I do get the Wife a new Tahoe, can you guess which dealer I will be going with?

My regional sales Rep tried to tell me they had the magnetic selective ride off the ZL1. CHEVY PRODUCT TRAINER! This was right before they hit the ground and I had to correct him! He thought I was lying to him.

THis is why I HATE going to dealers they are the absolute most clueless individuals known to man, I agree 100% that a salesman should have to take a test and have some knowledge about the cars they sell. I called a local dealer here in Houston and asked if they had any 1LE's and the response I got was "we sure do are you looking for an automatic or manual, and would you like the v6 version or the supercharged 600 hp SS". I just hung up the phone.

You are clearly a stickler for details and may be having a tough time understanding the point of the thread. You're debating the official name of a car. We're talking a out how a dealer doesn't know what a 1le is. I'll pose a question to you.

If you walk in a Chevy dealership and you ask if they have a camaro 1le, should that sales rep have a clue as to what you are talking about?

As a fellow enthusiasts, I understand the frustration. Salesmen are clueless!

I actually worked as a salesman for a short period of time several years ago. Worst job ever! I loved the idea of getting to work with these vehicles, but the management only saw dollar signs. I was once told that I spent too much time going over vehicle features with customers. They just wanted to move cars. I would see other salesmen giving incorrect information to customers on a daily basis.

The current business model using dealerships that auto manufactures use is terrible. I would love to see Tesla make buying a vehicle direct from the manufacturer the new way to buy a vehicle.

It's sad that it's only about money, I do understand that concept in a way and I understand they want to make money but I would rather have someone that has some knowledge so I could send them their way and get repeat busines, Look at Becky at Rodgers Chevy she's got the niche for selling camaro's and i bet she's super busy with word of mouth customers. I personally would rather buy from her even though she's 1500 miles away from me at least I know she knows what she's talking about.

I am 19 and could honestly embarrass 85% of salesmen when it comes to knowing about the cars. I would love to be a performance car specialist salesman at some point.

While that is a great idea, I can count on one hand how many dealerships I have EVER been in that give a shit how much the salespeople know about what they are peddling.

Fortunately, Trevor at Hendrick Chevrolet in Cary, NC is an enthusiast like Becky. He is the salesperson I bought my 1LE from. He spent 3 weeks finding me the right one.

If anyone in NC is looking for a knowledgeable salesdude, look him up.

I posted this on another thread. Applies here even more:

Went to my closest dealer only to compare colors (for now). They implied that if I really wanted to order a 1LE, they MIGHT be able to pull enough strings to pull it off. Considered directing them to cars. com to see just how "rare" the 1LE's are but instead I thanked them for talking to me and left.

And you are not much for details. Did you not see my post after the one you quoted. It talks about dealers being clueless. The post of mine you quoted was a response to another post in this thread. Try to follow along.
