congrats!!!! I always used nufinish to polish the black when I had mine as water spotting was a pain. I am not sure what brand your cai tube is, it could be any number its not looking like my CAI brand could be rotofab or k&n or another number of manufacturers, it kind of looks lamer sitting on that cut off hose laying on the radiator hose...I am sure that and its chrome metallic structure do not help keep the heat down. Here is a pic of mine, A CAI with its enclosure box, mine has a relocate of the washer bottle and a scoop bringing air from the lower grill, I got it form apex a vendor here on the site. The box is insulated and seals well, its real trick though is it fits its lid in the lip on the side pinch weld part of the fender also so putting the lid on is a slide into the side and a turn of three screws. Some manufacturers just made tubes, some made a seal like roto fab to have rubber at the top to seal on the bottom of the hood when closed. Mine is ceramic to not absorb heat and coated ceramic on the inside. The whole thing cost $500 with the relocate for the washer bottle and the scoop, ( I had to use a die grinder to cut through a part of the plastic wheel well for the scoop a little and just a drill )......And the stock windshield washer pump works just fine despite whatever the instructions say...you just have to have the feeder hose clamps tight as you remotely feed fluid down a hose as the washer bottle is moved down and under the CAI box out of the way. Stock air boxes suck, they must weigh like 20lbs, and so many have theirs like mine in the pile of removed parts never to go back on....they are somewhat restrictive and that's to say the least. If you really want a stock one on here someone may just give you one for free then you would have to Frankenstein that to get your tube into it. I think the CAI box would be a better fit and you may find its just fine if you can get apex to part with one. I know also CAI sells their tube in silver and black and maybe chrome...but the ceramic interior is the best for heat. Hope fully someone will recognize your tube........Someone throw him a bone.........
Here's a couple pic's of mine...........

I actually use my box to mount some toggles on and wire some lights to the battery terminal connect next to it.

Now that I look back at your pic you tube looks like a CAI brand tube those extra lines are from the zip ties holding your rubber hose section in place.......... I would think apex could fix you up with a box and such and you could have it set the way it should be, look at the tube on mine and the weld for the MAF sensor and where the vacuum hose attaches....yours sure looks like a CAI to me. CAI is the best supposedly.

It also appear someone was trying to make the engine cooler by removing the cover, this is best accomplished using a kit to relocate the lines here's a link to a place, also you can take off and paint the plenum cover and get come nicer valve cover type covers for the injectors. I was thinking of doing mine some day. Turning all the injectors just seems to be the main pain. as instructions are included if you look for them http://www.techafx.com/content/2010-...se-relo-kit-na

Cannot believe how flippin fast these cars are, and mine is mostly stock save for a CAI of unknown brand and no heat shield and a skip shift eliminator. Gotta figure out what to do with the CAI situation, pretty sure not having a heat shield makes it a HAI.

One other question I have is, are the console guages part of the RS package or are they a separate option? I have them and thought they were just a 2SS deal, so just curious.

Looking forward to learning more and enjoying the ride.
The gauges are not part of the RS package. They are part of the 2LT/2SS packages and that is the only way to get them factory installed. But they are a GM accessory item and all the cars are pre-wired for them, so they are plug-n-play. Someone has added them to your car.
I've never seen a 5th Gen CAI without an enclosure, so I'm assuming that whoever installed it just didn't bother installing the rest of it. I have the black CAI brand with the optional scoop on mine and it seems to work really well. If you decide to go that way, be aware that you will need to relocate the washer bottle to install a scoop. There's a couple of different ways to relocate the washer bottle. I have the Roto-Fab washer relocate kit and it looks OEM. Apex sells a scoop with a different style relocated washer bottle. Give either Tyler at JDP Motorsports or Chase at Apex a call. Both are good guys and will cut you a deal on a CAI and whatever accessories you want to go with it.

That link you posted is for a heater hose relocation kit for '10s and '11s. He has a '12 and you have a '13. Although I suppose it would be possible to install that kit on a '12 or a'13, there's no need. '12's and '13s already have their heater hoses relocated to that same exact location at the factory. That kit also relocates the fuel and evap lines also, but you can buy a separate kit to do that. No need to buy a whole heater hose relocate kit just to get those 2 little short fuel and evap lines. But yes, his engine cover is missing. He can put it back on or leave it off. I personally don't think it makes much difference. It's supposed to suppress a little engine noise, but it also traps some heat. I have mine on because I don't like looking at all those coil-packs, wiring and hoses. I think the engine looks neater with it on.

HA HA I tell dealers the same thing. One guy told me that it has to remain there or they need to charge me to take it off. I said OK leave it there and I would like my $200/month advertisement fee paid directly to my bank. It was taken off with a smile….

Some people actually believe these dealers at times lol

Have you ever seen a white ss that is a 2ss? No. The 2ss (red emblem) automatically gets the RS package. A red ss emblem means 2ss and a white ss emblem means 1ss. So in a way we are both right.

SSweetride, the others have answered your questions......and seeing as how you are new......

CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

2SS does not automatically include the RS package they are independent of each other. Please go check out the Chevrolet website and look at the builder. Start with a 1SS model and look at the picture, then add the RS package and see how the SS badge changes from white to red. Do the same and start with a 2SS. As Stig said White SS badge is non RS model and Red SS badge is for the RS model.

Yeah, i dont understand salesmen/dealers (no offense). But walk out on the lot and look at the camaro with cloth interior and one with leather, both will probably have the red SS (since 90% of camaros have the RS package).

MY dealer said the same thing and seems that most are ill-informed. I know salesmen arent car experts, but it would make us have more faith in them if they knew more about their product.

That's one of the reasons why I'm no longer one. Lol personally I've never seen a 2ss without the rs package though.

Confusing the RS package with the 2SS package continues to be very common around here. The 2 have nothing to do with each other.
