This is the sleeve where they are supposed to go, the ends have been cut off and the cords pulled out:

Utter stupidity, I can hear them now, "I wonder where these go?, hmm must not be needed so I'll just cut them off."

pretty much how the Service Manager sees it, he was pretty pissed when I pulled in and showed him this morning..

we are going to wait until after the holiday to try again, I just can't drive with the top down for the remainder of the week.

Anyone know the thread with the picture of the whole pre-assembled frame and top picture and part number?

I saw it the other day and for the life of me can't find it again. I really want to find it and show the SM that he can just order the whole damn assembly and not be bothered with re-wrapping the top.

These pictures just show the ineptitude of the service departments that are trying to fix these cars. Then telling owners it is normal. For the life of me why the hell doesn't GM do something about it? All it is doing is souring the moods of the owners who are either getting a repurchase, buyback, Lemon Law, or just plain trading their cars in.

it would also be easier for everyone involved if GM shipped the replacement tops as complete kits already assembled so that the techs with less experience would be able to just unbolt the old top and bolt on the new top.almost like a plug and play.
but the way it is now, the techs have to assemble the pieces and based upon their experience with convertible tops, we as the consumer are seeing varying results...some good and some terrible

That is what we have been saying for 2 years. GM says they cannot do it as they are not preassembled. I say BULLSHIT. That would mean they are piecing them together before they are put on the cars on the line. I am betting they are shipped to the factory in one piece to be bolted on. I mean hell, you can still get a full 4th gen fully assembled top.

There is a thread on here somewhere and I cannot find it, but it contains a picture and part number of the fully assembled kit.

I think the problem lies more in the parts department ordering parts based off of a diagram and not understanding there is a global part number for the whole assembled top.

I have been search for that thread all day and can't find it, but I saw it 2 days ago, and I can kick myself for not bookmarking or subscribing to it.

3 weeks and still no further along with the dealer, I am starting to get a bit angry..

the sides came out of the track this weekend, my detailer noticed it, and good thing, else the whole inside of the vehicle would have been flooded from the pressure washer.

I called the SM and he wants me to bring the vehicle in to have a look see, I said what is the point, you are supposed to have ordered a replacement top for the one your outsourced shop screwed up..

Apparently the top wasn't ordered, there are waiting for me to come in so they can "fix" the top that is already on the car, WTF.. they cut out the stitched in cords, there is no FIX.. ORDER A NEW TOP..

I just sent of one hell of a nasty email to the dealership owner, whom I have know for 15 years, I made sure to send it to his personal email, a copy to his personal LinkedIn and FaceBook mail systems.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day.
