People getting all fired up and jumping to all these different concussions are doing it all without receiving any word back from the OP or his Mustang buying Son. What would help this situation out a 100x better would to be to sit father/ son down and go over the details so we will know how to and where to steer this son through the white pearly gates of new car ownership. Heck he could be wanting an anemic 96 GT or Mustang II. He be much safer and not drain his account if he got a Coyote as they don't take much money to make fast or improve looks. There's owners out there are running 10's with the stock air box, stock intake manifold, stock factory shorty headers, stock cams, stock mufflers, stock gearing, stock transmission, stock converter, stock heads, stock wheels and I'm not talking about nitrous.

My vote is if its gonna be put up against some head to head style grudge races then he should get a 2013+ GT auto w/ 3.55 gears (maybe taller) Brembo brakes which all come stock. But if he can afford a used Boss I would tell him to jump all over that model as it has forged internals, cnc'd heads, Boss cams side exhaust and a whole slew of additional parts.

Like I said earlier they can be quite impressive with just a few bolt on's for making power which will get a NA GT well into the 10's if he can plant the power or turn it into a 9 second pony car killer with 140mph+ traps in the 1/4 and 200mph+ in the mile with only 2 non-stock power adding products (blower and X pipe)

I cant tell you how many 5.0L Coyote kill videos are on svtperformace.com where they are kiling 13-14 GT500's, 03-04 Cobra's, vette's, ZL1's, Z06's most with with very few hp increasing parts. A boss will see even larger gains because you can add more boost to its fully forged NA engine.

Saw a video today of an impressive 1LE with a 2.3L TVS, LS9 cam, and long tubes that made 645whp which pulled on a 690whp Kenne Bell Cobra. It made me want that clean white TVS'd 1LE and that Deep Impact Blue TVS'd auto coyote due to their large gains on stock motors with relatively small and affordable part lists. Maybe you could convince him to stay if you show him that video. You gotta search for it since C5 doesn't allow videos like that.

But a ricer is a civic with a fart can. I agree that I would take an import over a shelby or a raptor, but it would be a German import not an Asian import

If you had something like an NSX or Supra in mind, I think that would make for a difficult choice (in my opinion anyway). Like Mickey said, however, there's a fine line between import and ricer. The cars mentioned above are in no way ricers.

This guy seems to be on the same page as me. Most of the time when I say Supra, NSX, or R34 on this site (Especially the R34) I get called a ricer. So sorry if you are confused. I like cars. I don't care where they come from.

My favorite part of these cars is that the guy down the street doesn't have one. And the rest of the people on that street don't even have a clue as to what it is.

And those people are wrong for doing so.

Don't perpetuate their mistakes.

+1000000000000

I'm not a mod, so I feel I can say that rather than being "wrong", such people that call legends like the NSX, Supra, R33 & R34, and even the EVO, "rice", are just plain stupid.

Rice is when you take an econo-shit-box and try to make it look/sound fast. Supras and NSXs can actually go fast.
