trunk catch
I got my SS May 14th and my trunk did that for the first month or so but now it stopped itself. I've had a few other problems with things on the car so I took it to the shop yesterday and asked for them to check the trunk while they already had it!

Had the same issue, and took it to the dealer. They replaced the latch, and no more problems.

The white lithium grease took care of mine, apply just a small amount with a Q-Tip.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I've had the exact same problem with the trunk not opening. The dealer told me to bring it in and said it is probably the latch. That's what I plan to do. Pushing down on the trunk typically fixes the problem.

Same here. I used a Q-Tip with a little petroleum jelly and worked into the locking mechanism parts and it unlocks just fine now.

So, I had a weird problem with my trunk latch that I just now recently resolved.
So here was what it was doing....
What I found to be the culprit was the electrical harness for the trunk latch. It was getting pinched when I closed my trunk which was creating an open circuit. When I opened the trunk, the wires would contact again allowing the latch to work. To fix the issue, I had to repair my positive wire near the area that was getting pinched. Hopefully, this solution will help others that aren't getting resolution from the typical bumper adjustment / grease lube solution. |
