I did a full wrap with Xpel Stealth film. It's a satin/clear film that turns the factory colour into a satin colour, not matte (has a nice sheen to it).

It's MUCH thicker than vinyl, so it's more of a paint protection, as well. It's not as susceptible to chips and dings like vinyl is. I wanted satin black, so it worked for me. It is more expensive though.

I love it. The install is flawless and it turns heads everywhere. I did some gloss black accents as well.

Not even a little. I wash the entire car in about 20 minutes. I use Matte Detailer from Chemical Guys and a bunch of clean MF towels. This film will not scratch unless you REALLY try to scratch it with something sharp. It's way less tedious because I had to be extremely careful washing it before because every tiny scratch or swirl would show on the black... This film is amazing.

Spray detailer and wipe. No worries. No problems. No fine scratches.

That is our shop Camaro, we changed it up with custom graphics, and made it look like this

The orange wrap was a wet application, it comes out really clean, but the labor on that is intense, and it takes a lot more time.
Vinyl wraps you have to maintain well. I have seen tons of poorly taken care of vinyl wraps that come back in pieces. 3k sounds about right as well.

I too don't have any experience with wrapping a car either. Though I'm contemplating doing either the whole car, or just the hood, roof, and trunk. Black is hard to maintain. Ughhhh !!

But I've seen some Camaros which were done in plastic dip. And I must say I was truly impressed with the outcome.

So nice but it's so much pricier I wish I would invest in this. Increases value of the car I bet.

It is pricier but well worth it! All I know is whenever I decide to take it off... or try something new... or whatever... my paint will look absolutely mint! Which at the end of the day, was my goal... The fact that it made the car satin was a HUGE bonus!

OP wondering if you ever decided?

I'm considering wrapping mine as well. Thinking hot pink (gasp, yes! while keeping black hash marks and carbon fiber hood), orange , apple green, or maybe pearl white. I like a lot of colors so it's hard to decide!

I would like to use surface protection tape rather than vinyl.
